hello,
so a friend an i have decided to be tremendously spontaneous and are planning on coming to london the 14th through the 30th. this way we get to see pvd at gatecrasher on the 15th, scott bond at gatecrasher on the 22nd, and tiesto at gatecrasher on the 30th. (my god, you guys must be in heaven getting to see all this good music all the time!).
so, we need suggestions...
first of all, any suggestions on cheap places to stay... i assume hostels would be cheaper, but we are looking for somewhere we can bring a suitcase to and leave it locked up in a room for the day while we are wandering about. so, do you guys know of any cheapish hostels (or maybe non cheapish ones) that have that as an option? ive never stayed at a hostel before so i dont even know if thats an option or not, period. well, and also a plus is that the hostel is in a safe area of course :)
second, club nights! we've already seen that thursdays at heaven is john digweed. any other suggestions? we have the 15th, 22nd and 30th planned for but any weeknight clubs that would be good would be appreciated! and on that note, what is the dress code like for those? i dont really own any "nice" clothes, so do i need to buy any for gatecrasher, heaven, etc? should we buy tickets ahead of time for any of the nights?
or also, any other places for us to visit.. record stores, anything. ive been to london twice, but both times were a long time ago when i wasn't really into the scene yet... so i've checked out the industrial scene there but nothing techno-related...
i cant think of any more questions but i know ill have some.. so any infomation/recommendations you guys might have, we appreciate greatly!!! thanks! ill check this thread, or my email address is [email protected] |

dood if ya intend to go to crasher on all those nites then i suggest you get a hotel in sheffield because otha wise you'll be doooin a lot of travellin!crasher is about 150miles from london!i know caus i avta drive there when i go to crasher!!if you sty in sheffield then it's a reasonably short train ride to liverpool(cream) and birmingham (godskitchen)
u'l need funky street dress for tgatecrasher or nethin wild and colourful...but regardin the clubs in london the ui'l need shoes and proper formal gear!(thta all depends where you end up of course!)
hope that helps a bit! |

yea, we werent sure about accomodations in sheffield because we will have a suitcase and all. we were thinking it might be a hassle to lug that thing up there in whatever way we would get there (heh, i know im certainly not going to try to drive the opposite way im used to).. and then have to come back the next day.
we saw on the gatecrasher site that you can pay 39 pounds to get on a coach and get driven up there and back and get in with priority entry. that is definitely not small change but we thought maybe we would do that since it might be easier than bringing the suitcase up/back for one night? which do you think would be easier? |

that is certainly pretty dear to do each wknd, a coah tho is probably the cheapest way ur gonna get up to sheffield for just the weekends!if your definatly stayin in london neway wud it not be easier to place ur baggage in a baggage holdall at airports, trainstation ctc?and take wiv you all ur essentials and precious items wiv u to crasher?there is a cloakroom which takes smaller bags.in regards to pvd on trhe 15th u mite b able 2 leave them at tu_faces house but thats not for me to say, but we're all plannin to go to the 6 hr set at crasher! |

yea, i was actually just told about leaving suitcases at a train station/airport.. i didn't even know you could do that :)
yes, it'll definitely be pricey, although this is seriously a chance of a lifetime for me. i live over in washington, and any good trance i see, i have to go up to vancouver. so far, ive only had a chance to see tiesto, sasha/digweed, and oakenfold. pvd *never* comes over to this area... hes coming in a few months but it is 21+, and i am 20. :( thats actually why this whole trip idea even came up.. it wasn't much more money to fly to london instead of just going somewhere in the states!
do you know if tickets can be bought ahead of time so we get in for sure? or does it usually sell out?
as far as your friend's house/etc... if you guys wanted to meet up somewhere and go with us to see pvd, that would be great :) i'd love to meet some other tranceaddict folk and say hi, especially since you guys are from there and know what you are doing :D we are just going to be two lost american girls who dont know where we are going.. hehe |

really???
actually, i forgot to mention that.. i NEED to see armin van buuren, so I looked on his site and saw he was spinning in bournemouth at slinky on the 14th. so we have been trying to figure out how to get directly from the airport to there, hotels, etc... haha! but he will be in london also?? i did see the london date on his site but i thought it was just for a radio station or something.
can you give me some info on that club? or if it is possible to buy tickets ahead of time? i was just told that since we are girls and american we wouldn't have a problem getting in if it was sold out, but i still want to be safe :) cant miss armin!!!!
thanks! |

wooohooo!u peepz sound like proper clubba girlz 2 me!!well don't know about armin nite as i've neva been to peach!that guy is pure trance trance trance!!if u can make it to slinky on the south coast then you'll hav a fatastic nite as it is the bollox..guaranteed!!we usually purchase all r tickets on www.ticketmaster.co.uk n u collect them in local virgin megastores or hmv's (record stores).i've just got me creamfields ticket from them and although they charge 2-3 booking fee its well worth it to secure ur nite out goes without a glitch!think you shud do this for the pvd nite as there seems a lot of peepz i know r well up 4 it..so go an get ya tickets caus its gonna sell out n fast!!
ooh n i've checked major trainstations and it seems that most if not all the major ones do hav baggage halls!..so i'd advise you to do that! |

volksjoolz: hmm.. so if i was to use ticketweb, i would have to go somewhere to pick them up? how does that process work? here, if you order tickets online usually you just go to the venue and show the card you used to order them/id and they give you the tickets at the door...
do you also have any suggestions on cheap stuff to do during the day? we are having some issues right now with "can we even afford this".. so if we do end up coming, we need some free/cheap stuff to do during the day for the week+ we are there.. :) |

depends really what your into Londons a cool place but its best when you've got cash, but around greater london central London I'm sure theres lots of cheap stuff that can keep someone occupied, also if u find on a friday night like the night before gatecrasher, try checking out the Gallery at turnmills I've heard some good reports about that club |

rite if ur afta cheap stuff then london has loadsa things to offer you!u got endless pubs/resturaunts and shops (oxford street)and not forgettin the siteseeing (Tour bus)of the tower of london, trafalger sq,buckinham palace, london dungeons, leicester sq, picidilly circus etc etc!!!the tower of london, london dungeons and other museums and theatres (west end) will cost u but the rest are free. a one day travel pass can get you to all these places pretty cheaply in which you can use trains, buses and the underground.
my mate went to L.A for a coupla months last year and met two americans girls (probably much like yourself), who decided to take a return holiday to the u.k.they spent most of theyr time checkin out the places mentioned ubove and easily managed it on a 1000 budget with change, for 3 weeks!its the same everywhere you go..once you find cheap accomodation then its up to you wot you spend the rest on!(god..i sound like a travel rep!!!hehe!)
as far as i know u book the tickets afta either issuing online or ringing the u.k code followed by 08709020001 or alternativluy the piccidilly box office (in london)on 08704445556. to collect the tickets theres a collection point at a hmv in either 62 kensington high street,1 piccidilly circus or 162 camden high st.
-the gallery (turnmills) in london has tall paul and judge jules on the 14th,oliver klein and way out west on the 21st and on the 28th-sister bliss, alex p and guy ornadel
you cud also try bagleys (freedom), fabric (highly reccomended), and peach with yommanda (14th).
elsewhere godskitchen in birmingham has oakie on the 14th judge jules and tall paul on the 21st and pvd 6hr on the 28th
gk's 4th birthday is bein held at milton keynes on the 29th with dj's including mauro piccoto, fergie, armin v burren, signium, john kelly, tall paul, john 00 flemming!!25
pheeeeeeew!!think thats it guys!!..opps no also you cud try passion in leicester, or slinky bouremouth.
