Hi all,
Plz listen to the following samples:
http://users.pandora.be/dj_vylix/Supersaw
I can make such supersaws with the Malstrom in Reason 2.5.. after adding a unison, some eq & a distortion unit i'm still not getting such a 'phat' sound...
I cutted some low freq and boosted the mid/high fred..
Someone who can help me out?
thx! |

if you want recreate the 2nd sample, then you should boost more the highs, use longer reverb and turn the release of the malstrom amp a bit more up..
if that is not phat enough, use a second instance of the malstrom with the same patch and detune one a bit negative and one more postive. (so, if you add both values, that it gives you 0)
just my 2 cents
so long

Do what was suggested above, duplicating units and such. Also, on each of those units, attach an Audio Splitter, and track the output to 2 different channels on the mixer. Pan those channels hard left and right. It's that basic "double mono" trick, but it works nicely for me, usually. :)
I've never managed to get sounds that good out of Reason (yet), and I think it's mostly hardware stuff that does that. :( |

the easiest way to create a supersaw sound in Reason is having some JP8080 Supersaw ( found them on the production ftp some months ago ) multisamples. Although sub and maelstorm can create really wicked sounds, the quality of hardware samples in much better.

@ DJ_Ikronix: Ok m8! will try that out! I'll post a sampe in RNS when i've done that
@ Trancevision: idd, i'm still searching for that JP8000 refill :)
is it free thought? |

the JP8080 saw ( wav format ) I downloaded isfree also as the two Reason JP8000 Refills which are very small and contain only few and average sounds.
You can find them probaly on Kzaaa, or with Elmue or Direct Connex (...) , they are all free and wide spread across the web. :D
