As far as I know Film may not be reopening... Just rumours heard from other club owners/managers etc... Too bad
And we don't resemble anything like Detroit. One club shooting in recent memory is hardly terrifying.
Note: Gotta love the metal detectors at Boa! |

i've never been to Boa so correct me if i'm wrong: the metal detectors are somewhat inside so u have to be in line to get to the metal detector. either way, the bouncer could have gotten shot with or without metal detectors beacuse the shooter would have not gotten to the metal detector b4 the shot was fired. I think metal detectors are a great idea though!
y can't we have them at ALL the clubs? |

Because for whatever reason they make a lot of people uncomfortable... oh and because of the number of people who believe they "need" to carry a weapon of some sorts on them. Also at Boa they search pretty thoroughly.
PS I manage to set off the detectors every time... usually forgetting to take change out of my pockets or whatever. Although at this point they don't really care, I'm there like clockwork every saturday. |

I thought Film got shut down last week anyways after that '4 week undercover investigation'? |
I don't think so...I think it's been open since that happened. (apparently so, anyways..) |

My summary of the whole chronology:
A girl takes the wrong drugs three weeks ago. She takes too many, mixes them together, whatever, and dies. The media pushes and pushes, and the city big wigs push the cops to get the media off of their desk and phones. The cops are all over Film, searching people, intimidating people, so forth to accomplish this. They get it done, and take a BIG chunk of someone's income, because there are only so many clubs that you can still get drugs at 5:30am. Doug's one of the top security dogs there, so he has his team do what he's told to, order thrown down from the police, via Film's management. Whoever got busted only looked at this as retribution for eliminating one of their income sources.
Today's News (source unknown)
Two men injured in separate shootings
Police are looking for suspects in the weekend shootings of a bouncer in a downtown Toronto club and a Markham man in his car near Buttonville airport.
The bouncer was shot early yesterday at an after-hours club where undercover officers had conducted drug raids last week.
The 33-year-old man, whose name was not released, was shot once in the stomach while working at the Film Lounge, at Beverley and Dundas Sts. He was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.
Last week, a man was charged with several drug-related offences after officers spent four weekends watching drug transactions and buying Ecstasy tablets inside the club, which is virtually hidden in a busy plaza full of Vietnamese restaurants.
The raid came on the heels of the death of 19-year-old Tiffany Mahoney, who died March 21 after taking an Ecstasy pill while at the club with friends.
The injured Markham man is not co-operating with detectives, police say. Han Chang Lu, 41, was stopped at a red light near the airport when he was wounded in the left leg by a gunman who jumped from another car and fired a shot through the passenger window with a high-powered pistol.
As Lu sped off, the gunman fired another shot into the passenger door.
Initially unaware that he'd been wounded, Lu drove frantically for 20 minutes through Unionville with the attacker's vehicle in hot pursuit, said Detective Keith Freemantle.
They finally flagged down a York Region police officer at Highway 7 and Kennedy Rd.
Ku is recovering from surgery. His passenger was unhurt.
The men were returning from an overnight dance party on Toronto's waterfront at the Guvernment, Freemantle said. |

| I was there for Deko-Ze's b-day, but that's it. I was at Boa Saturday night, on my way out I stopped to say goodbye to the manager (Boa's) and he told me there was a shooting at Film and the police had closed it permanently. But as always, someone may know more. |

I think the media and the police are about to have another year 2000 style hard on for "rave clubs"
Meanwhile how many shootings occur most weekends at hip hop venues again?
But labelling hip hop venues as violent would be racist of course |
