even if there are no string attached, i have a feeling that once everyone signs up it'll bog the server down real bad... meh... i'll give it a try anyways... |

They make their money from the advertising. They let you take off the ads for a price. They wouldn't offer it if they were going to lose money. |

they are trying to run an ebay auction type system, as well hosting, and of course banner ads.
offering 1 gig email seems to be the catch to get users. |

so you can remove the adds, and you then have to pay?
i personally dont think this type of service will be around too long from a smaller company. They probably wont have the reserves to stay in business when they lose lots of $$$ from this venture.
but in anycase i will sign up for the web hosting. i wouldnt start storing all my important emails there though, just incase;) |

They'll just turn into Everyone.net - offer all this crap for free, and once you get used to it and become really attached to it, they'll throw all the ads they can get their hands on at you and ask you to pay an X amount of money to get rid of those ads.
And yea, it's goddamn slow... they better work on their servers and hosting first. |

hotmail is gonna have to up their space to remain competitive .. i feel sorry for eveyrone who paid for an upgrade thru them !! lol ..
i remember using hotmail before it became owned by MS .. man they were one of the first webmails around ..
