Using one Synth for everything?
View this Thread in Original format

This may sound like a silly question but its not

has anyone here used one synthesizer to play every track in your song

for example

pads
stabs
leads
atmosphers
melodies
bass
etc

if not when would you use a synthesizer to play manually

also if anyone has made a complete track using one synth
to play the whole complete song manually id like to hear it

also if you only use it accordingly id like to hear it too so i can get a good idea of when to play the synth

Thanks

Atmosphere all the way.. I use that baby for everything.. only problem with it is that most of it's leads are saw-ish.. so for a square lead or just to have more control I use Vanguard.. but I've done entire songs with Atmosphere (and samples for percussion)
KilldaDJ
i can probably do an entire remix using the vanguard or the v-station

using samples as percs of course...

I did an entire song with Vanguard I'm now remembering..

It's on my website.. the title is "Liquify"
hey cheggy
I've done an entire song using virus, including kick and percussion.

I didin't play it manually though. That would be impossible.

i've been wanting to try to do a whole track with my Virus, just to see what i'd come up with. personally, i don't really like the idea of using just one synth for all my synth sounds. i feel like the synths lack a bit of character, and it's sort of uncreative, imo.

I made my tracks in dreamstation completly with it's synth. And in reason I use the subtractor in Reason for everything. Drums and perc are samples. Although I treid to make some with the softsynthsabove

my most recent track was all pro-53, inc bassline.... (apart from drums)

i can't seem to get the same dirty soudns out of other synths for hard trance :D

Here is what someone made using only one synth. You need Reason 2.5.

Z3ta+ and perc samples.

did that take a lot of CPU....5 z3tas + drums + FX.

Hello:

I write a lot of trance songs with the Motif ES. Before everyone starts throwing stones at me, let me explain. By adding one to three PLG150-AN plug-ins, the workstation can perform physical analog synthesis in addition to the diverse ROM presets. Also, the sampler provides another option to expand sonic possibilities. With some dedicated time, a person can really customize the workstation for any type of music, including trance.

As another person stated, I prefer to use more than one synth on most songs. But, when I am feeling lazy, which is most of the time, the Motif ES seems to perform the job well. The downfall is that workstations are not looked upon as being "cool" in the trance world.

I am not endorsing the Motif ES is the way to go for you and others, but just indicating another "one synth does all" option to consider.
