I just got into producing not long ago, I've only been spinning for a short time too.
I know my friend showed me a program called Reason, it looked stacked, but I was wondering if I was going to go "out there" (internet) and "buy" (download) a program for the laptop what should it be?
There's probably a thread like this somewhere already but I'm too lazy to look.

try being not so lazy and looking through the forums. a lot of people on here will tell you the exact same thing.
and there really isn't a "best program". everyone will tell you that it's how you use a program to do whatever you want to do. there are some producers out there that make phenomenal music with only Reason, others can make great music with just Fruity Loops. everyone has a different way about doing what they wanna do. Reason is a good starter as it has everything you'll ever need in a studio. if that doesn't work you can try out Fruity Loops, or Acid Pro, or Cubase/Logic. |

Well if you are only going to steal some software, does it really matter which one it is, you might as well steal all of them and find which one you like the most.
Most major programs have demos that you can go and download for free. Then you can buy the one you like the most. There is a sticky in this forum called "read here before you post". Your answer is in there. |
