question regarding posts

I have a stupid question that might have been addressed before, but after doing a basic search and not finding anything I honestly don't have the time or the patience to dig any deeper. It's not a big deal and I won't lose any sleep if no one has an answer, but it did get me curious and that is why I am asking.
With that said...
How does this forum calculate the posts that are applied to my profile? Case in point...it says that I only have 25 posts but that doesn't seem accurate. When I did a search to see how many I actually had it came back with 55. It couldn't possibly go by the threads that we post in (does it?) so how often does it tally and just how accurate is it?

| If im not mistaken, all posts made in Chill Out Room do not count. |

I know the chillout room doesn't count for posts. Mabye some other places as well. :toothless
