possibility of Markus Schulz making an appearance Downunder (pg. 2)

I think a lot of us tend to over-estimate the pull of an international .. to really pull a crowd they need to be a really big name. Your average punter often doesn't know any trance DJs other than Oakenfold, PVD, Tiesto, Ferry and maybe Armin. But since we're so familiar with their work we tend to assume everyone else is the same....

Soups; Prove us wrong; get him out and pack out room. If you're in touch with the people and think it's happening, make it happen :)

Personally, up here, most people only just in the scene (IE go 2 major parties) have heard of AvB, PvD, Tiesto and Ferry, that's all they know. No locals, no Misja, no Thrillseekers, no Jon o'Birs, no Marcus Shultz. The only people who'd be interested IMO are the people who'd go to a normal 5am/unify/Private Function anyhow; IE he's not going to attract someone less educated.

MS doesn't have the best name in the prog world anyhow. He's developed a rep for Mc Prog.

All power to you by proving me/jules wrong tho :)

i will eventually make an appearance to the r00m 'volume' nights.

are u saying this because those record store people are in attendance there??

i was referring moreso to one dj who namely has played/residency held at revolver.

and my opinions were that markus could very likely fill a ROOM night with appropriate local names..

and i will checkout Rhythms selection in the city store, havent been there before.

So if it's the locals who are pulling the crowd, why not just have a local party? Or will a higher ticket price attract more people?

im just saying that i think markus schulz would get a few extra punters through the doors, maybe not enough to dedicate a whole night to him at room, however i think there would be a fair amount of interest in him. As his productions and Global DJ Broadcast are very good

How many people do you know who have heard of GDJB who aren't going to go to an event anyhow? I can think of none.

Once again, throw the party, pack it out, proove me wrong.

would i be wrong in saying we have a greater chance of seeing him at a festival [ie TwoTribes/Fieldayze etc] then just a tour on his own

it also sounds more cost effective and appealing to australian punters who

which i too think is the case

This sounds like an awesome idea!
If Schulz was to come to Melbourne, i would
definately be goin and tryin to convince everyone i
know to go as well. However, I do agree with the other
guys on here that his name wouldn't yet be very well known.
Maybe to us who use these forums and d/l sets but to the
average punter who attends Two Tribes & Summa Dayze I think they wouldn't have a clue who he is. I rkn it would take a couple of years b4 you would be able to get him to headline an act downunder. But, chuck him in a lineup with Armin, PVD, Testo, Ferry Corsten etc. and you would have no probs gettin him out here.

So true, im not flaming Schulz but he is no PVD, AVB Sasha etc, not realy a 'superstar dj' that people will pay higher than normal cover charge to see & fill a big room

His profile is high on TA because alot of members are from the US & Canada...

what you guys say is all true.

howerver i think thats because of the music he plays.

he doesnt play anthemetic trance.

whereas, i think if you filled a room of prog. lovers
at 'room' then release Schulz on them, they would love
his sounds..

agreed?

No. If you think otherwise you're underestimating the progressive community. Add to that, I believe (IE not 100% sure), that dark/deep progressive is still huge down there. Add to that that progressive house is much more popular then progressive trance everywhere(except TA, of course ;) ).

Head on over to mercury server, and post a thread about it. See the sort of replies you get..Seriously...
