Turntable/Vinyl care

I was wondering what do you think as the most important things to do (or to avoid) to protect the turntables and the records...

As far as your records go...make sure that you get new styli (stylus)
so that old run down cartridges don't ruin your vinyl. Also, make sure
that if there is a sleeve within the record case itself, to put your
record back into that...it does help. Also, when playing out, make
sure that you are transporting your vinyl in something safe. I think
that the hard metal crates are the best. Sure, they are heavy and are a bitch to carry, but they are definitely a vinyl saver.

As far as your decks go...I cover mine whenever I'm not using them.
I have cases for them, so I just put the cover on when I'm done. I also take a paintbrush and dust out the tight spots whenever too much
dust gets in there.
