| ok im giong to be installing windows 2k on my computer and change to NTFS. now i know everything will be deleted when i do this but what i want to know is if i transfer all my mp3s to another harddrive that has windows 95 on it and then i hook this hardrive up to computer with windows 2k as slave can i transfer these mp3s to windows 2000 harddrive? another way i thought about trying to transfer my mp3s is to burn them all to cd and then copy them to windows 2000 harddrive. will this work too? |

| the burn cd thing sounds like a better idea. its easier and i'm pretty sure it will work. |

| win95 wont be able to read/write your 2k drive if you convert it to NTFS, but your 2k drive WILL be able to read/write your win95 drive, so there should be no problems... |

| im pretty sure that there is an option in windows 2000 setup that will allow you to convert your hard drive to ntfs without having to format it. remember to back up your mp3's anyways to another hard drive, if it does format it, after the setup finishes, plug in the hard drive filled with mp3's as slave and copy the files over in windows 2000. windows 2000 will read and write to any drive as long as its formated as fat 16, fat 32, or ntfs |

| both ways will work, but the CD way would be better IMO |

| Just don't convert it to NTFS as it's unecessary for most people unless you really need high grade security etc. So i'd just partition it as FAT32 (thats what i did) |

besides the security part, NTFS also saves space, and includes a few cool features that FAT32 doesn't, such as passwordprotection of individual folders (well ok, that's security :) ) |

| Do you really think it is better than Win98? I use Windows ME, the best alternative to 98, and also my scanner has no drivers for 2000 - this is the biggest problem of this OS - not possible to install video, sound etc without visiting websites of manufacturers. |

really? i didn't have to visit one single website on search for drivers - they where all included (except for my tv-card)
i must say that win2k is the best OS that microsoft has made up to date |

Uh... Windows ME sux big time!!! Ur better off using Win 98 over ME. Its slower, has worse memory management, less security, and more buggy over Win2k. I didn't have to do anything for driver wise, it automatically installed it for me and I didn't have to visit one website for any drivers. |
