I have an Audiophile 2496, and as anyone who has this card will know, it doesnt have a headphone socket, fair enough.
SO Im just wondering whats the best most reliable thing and cheepest thing to monitor the output with?
At the moment Im using a Tape deck recorder amp, but I dont trust it, it doesnt have an Eq curve menu or anything, infact it SEEMs to just be a direct sound, but I really need to know that what I hear coming out is what it ACTUALY sounds like, before it even reaches my Monitors/headphones.
What is everyone else doing with similar soundcards? |

Hrrmm.. well if you want to use headphones (which I am STRONGLY against) there is this headphone amp which goes for $100 USD and seems to be pretty good - not sure how much it goes for in the UK..
BUT if you want to get monitors (which I recommend 10x over headphones) I would say get a pair of events.. but they go for $300 USD for the cheapest ones.. |

I put monitors/headphones to show I was asking a question about the quality of the signal 'before' hand.
No offence, but it wasnt your opinion on headphones/or speakers I was after:D
I think its an amp I need, one for speakers or headphones, Im sure there is a cheeper one than that however:conf: |

Well then I'm really not to sure what your asking about.. are you askign what a good amp for your speakers/headphones would be?
or are you asking how the direct sound coming from the card is?
The signal coming straight from the audiophile has pretty damn close to 0 noise.. you have to increase a blank recording by about 40db before you can hear the noise. |

question about setting up the audiophile 2496 to monitors. i have a pair of alesis monitor one mk 2 speakers, and im going to be getting this sound card in less then a week. but im not too sure how they conect together. the monitors have a large jack output. and the sound card rca inputs. so do i need a jack to rca cable? that was my first thought, but all the cables like this i have seen, all go into 2 rca plugs on the other end, but acording to THIS picture, i need one with one jack plug, and one rca plug, not two, so i can plug one speaker into the left output, and one into the right output. so does a jack to single rca socket lead exist? ok now ive confused myself. help please?:conf: |

So you need THIS kind of cable. Am I right? |

so long as you can split the cables into 2 seperate ones your golden (most of the time they're connected by a thin piece of rubber)
That's the same style of cable I use to hook up my Event TR6s to my Audiophile.. |
