Another interesting thing is that you can calculate your mental age by the following:
Mental age = (IQ/100) * Physical age
and this is defined relative to the rest of the population, which as a whole mental age = physical age and the average IQ is therefore 100. |
Actually that only works for children. The adult IQ test was modified. |

It's typically not used for children anymore, either. The most popular "real" IQ tests are the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. Both of them give a numeric result which purely a deviation from "average" which in both cases is a score of 100.
I'm not particularly fond of any IQ tests, be they online or otherwise. A good tip for online tests though, is to subtract 30 from whatever score you get. That will probably be a lot closer to your "real" IQ - if you care, anyway. |

i have been smelling a fair ammount of bull in here,
to the guy with his GF who has an IQ of 178.... horse
the 2 percentile score for the following universal IQ tests used and accpeted by mensa are as follows
Cattell B - 148
Culture Fair - 132
Ravens Advanced Matrices - 135
Ravens Standard Matrices - 131
Wechsler Scales - 132
cattell B being the one that i wrote (accredited) and scored 154, but that is just my intelligence quotient. and really has no bearing on how smart anyone is. its just thier intelligence capability.
there are mensan's who are on welfare, even one that i know of in ottawa who lives in the homeless shelter. but there are also millionaires, business leaders, politicians. and the online tests arent timed most of hte time and the tests arent even close to real iq tests. to get a consistent rating you need to either take the wechsler or the cattell... those are the ones most widely used. but 178 isnt possible, not even by stephen hawking.
ive taken a bunch of the online ones for fun and scored anywhere from 155 to 134 but if you really want to know a good judge of IQ contact mensa, they have a home iq test that they send oyu and you mail it back and they grade it for you. its usually with in 1 to 2 points of your actual iq |

Yeah i read about that too ... but i was trying not to make things so complicated that 50% of the population wouldn't be able to understand what i was saying. This way is much simpler. |

Nevermind, the highest IQ recorded by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is 210. That's where I heard it from. |
i think that might be speculating, though i dont know. They speculate Albert Einstein's to be[he never took one] 280, which is redicoulos, id say 210 and no more |

I'm surprised I've read all the way to here and nobody has posted this before me.
There is a reason that not a single person here has posted a score between 90 and 100 (the supposed average range) and that a completely random test gives you a result in the 80s. It's because they (the company) wants you to buy their .
When people test into the 130s-140s, they feel proud of their mind power are more inclined to buy the analysis and plaque/whatever the hell else they give you. You are also much more likely to get your friends to take the test so that you can "see how they measure up." It's a subconscious thing.
These tests intentionally skew your score higher than it actually is. It's a matter of fact. |
