well, unless you want to look for a specialty store, I would say Dufferin Games stores in some malls carry decent selections on tables.
Size, I am assuming you're getting official Pool size with Pool pockets. But, I do know there are smaller tables that have snooker options like snooker pocket size which sux... but other than that I guess you know what size you want.
As for other things to consider, felt: thick or fine. Thick is slower but you'll get much more ball reaction with english and Draw spins. Thin is fast. Mind you, some thin felts are pretty good with spins anyways and are quite adequate, but might get damaged easily. Rails: I am not too familiar with the options, but I am sure the guys at the store can help you out.
Check this out for some info: Dufferin Games |

get a medium thickness of felt. if not that then thin. you're a novice player (i'm assuming) and you won't be using alot of english shots.
Also... I'd sugges the net basket pocket holes, instead of the pathway inner workings that channel the balls to the front... it avoids lots of maintenance and spider web problems. My grandparents have a pool table with the inner pathway channeling and it's a mess now.
look for decent rubber lining around the pockets. Leather anywhere is a plus.
and don't forget at least 4 chalk cubes when u get cues! |
