Finally upgraded last of my four computers at the house to Win2K (could've used XP) because I was convinced I still had a Worm buried in my system which was causing lockup problems in Excel whenever I used cut and paste. Fixed that problem finally, but holy smokes I got clobbered with Spyware/Adware attacks first time on Internet before I beat them off with a buncha more upgrades. Good thing Norton grabbed the Trojan viruses. I pity the ordinary user without much knowledge trying to defend himself these days. Things are getting real complicated and nasty which forces me to run two popup blockers simultaneously to stop the madness.

Lol!

why do people create these things. there should be very strict laws on this sort of thing. but its pratically unpoliced.

Aren't you the guy claiming to be a sysadmin or something?

Spywareblaster + Spybot S&D + Ad-Muncher + Opera = ALL you need to protect your computer against ANY sort of spyware/malware/pop-up attacks.

I use IE too, and I've effectively locked it so tight....by disabling the execution of plugins and ActiveX controls and the like.

I'm running Windows Server 2003 for about 6-8 months now and I've NEVER had a single problem, not even with IE.

And yes, I look at pr0n, too :)

Just use Mozilla. No Pop-ups.

Roger, they didn't all convert clean with an upgrade from 98 to Win2K. Had to reload protection. Not really surprising.
:D
