As the old saying goes...A Bruin is forever but a trojan is good only once.

The moral of the story is that Trance or any other electronic genre has been branded techno and crapped on here in the USA and you will never get inundated with other people with the same musical tastes regardless of how big a school you go to.

I think the only niche you could find where house/trance are recognized by a majority is wealthy, successful young people who are just out of college and going to sophisticated clubs regularly. Which in my experience doesn't describe the average college student.

I recommend throwing many parties with free alcohol and good DJing. Invariably people will approach you and yell something inaudible into your ear that you roughly make out as "hey, I recognize the genre that you're playing. I'm now going to try to impress you by showing off my own knowledge by asking you if you've ever heard of a certain track, or how I used Acid once or whatever.".

But occassionally these people are actually the good stuff and you'll be able to make friends with whom you can go see all the big headliners as the come to town and whatnot. At my school, we basically had one big music community that invariably anybody with an interest in music and partying would eventually get sucked into.

I think the the advantage we had was just the atmosphere. We all stuck together. I'd never seen two hip hop, look at me I'm so cool DJs ever help each other out or work together at all. But whenever one person was throwing or spinning an event they would invite the others and everybody cooperated. There's really more to the notion of the music being happy, good vibes than the common ecstacy drug addled idiots thing.

I find it most disconcerting whenever I see TAs or anybody in the community bashing each other. Somebody says they like a Tiesto track and suddenly everybody's telling them that Tiesto is crap, and whatever, he's gotten too popular and so of course it's garbage or whatever. Does anybody else feel like this? I'm rambling. The bottom line is, promote the music by letting everybody see it in it's best light and be a good member of the music community and it will grow.

I live a block away from telegraph (I live across the street from the new Super DC: Crossroads), last nite at like 12:30 am there were a buncha black guys outside my building on the street makin hella noise cuz they were about to fight and then like 7 cop cars came and set them straight haha

damn them and disturbing me with their antics while I was tryin to watch mary kate and ashley on SNL (anyone else watch this? the first bit was hilarious. and Jimmy Fallon is leaving SNL? whats up with that?)
