I'm brand new to this forum, and would just like to say hello to everyone. I have been working on my first attempt at writing and producing a track. If you want to listen to it and tell me why it sucks :) and what I can do to improve upon my skillz that would be great.

hey dude, the 2 streams don't work, might wanna fix this

I have to be honest & say this isn't my type of thing really.

Production is OK, mastering leaves a lot to be desired.
Synths have far too much hih end EQ and the Percussion is lacking.
Melody is just plain horrible imo.
I don't really like this :(

Sorry if I sound harsh there :nervous:

It sounds like music from an original 8-bit Nintendo game. There is something interesting going on in it. I think it's a great first effort. Did you perform those lead parts?

Bren-F: No your not being to harsh that's exactly the kind of feedback I want. I am extemely green to writing this kind of stuff. I guess the track really doen't quite fall into the category 'trance', so sorry about that.

AaroNoct: Hehe 8-bit, yeah I am having a hard time programming the damn synth in 'The Reason'. I need hardware (Or perhaps I just don't know what I'm doing)! As far as the lead parts, I didn't play them live if thats what you mean, I wrote them in reason, if that makes any sense.

Anyway...Thanks so much for the feedback, I hear some really great tracks being posted here and hope to someday create something of that calibur. BTW, I want to purchase a good syth, any suggestions? I am having the damndest time trying to get that beautiful "supersaw" type sound with "The Reason".

I wasn't commenting on the technical quality of your track. I was just trying to drive home it sounded compositionally like a classic Nintendo game. You're on the right track. That's some pretty good programming IMO. Listen to more trance tunes and try to write in a different key.

Ah! Okay. I think I will definatley try something different, and a little more melancholy next time.
