Summerfest in Milwaukee

ok so i know the Milwaukee population on these forums is quite slim, but who here is planning on attending Summerfest? i know it's not really EDM-related, but i am sure there are people here who listen to other genres of music. although last year they had BT and Crystal Method (i was too drunk to remember if they were good, but i had a great time). i wonder who their "Dance/Techno" acts will be this year, lol.

the Summerfest site doesn't have many acts announced. but i've been keeping an eye on Pollstar since they seem to be updating pretty regularly. also for anyone who is a 311 fan, they are supposedly playing July 3rd. i will definitely be at that show, they are awesome to see live.

anyway, i'm way more excited about it this year than i was during previous years. i'll be all moved into my new apartment which is walking distance from the Summerfest grounds. that means... more beer for me!

anyone else going?

What that really means.. is that you are about to become a whole lot more popular :)

I'm sure I'll be around for summerfest considering I'm like what, two blocks farther up the road... ;)

hurray for beer!

once it gets closer to the date we can work out a meetup.

anyone who wants to bring me beer is welcome to party at my place. :happy2:

so it looks like i'm going thursday, coming back the same night :whip:, working a half-day friday, and going back to milwaukee right after work since my friends want to check out john mayer and maroon 5. i went last year and had a blast. so lücid, where do you recommend staying?

well that depends on how much you wanna spend. you could stay outside of downtown for pretty cheap, but will have to bother with driving, parking (which can get expensive), traffic, and having a designated driver (if you plan on drinking)... or you can stay downtown within walking distance from the Summerfest grounds.

i'm not really familiar with any motels/hotels around here but i can help you out with locations and convenience if you want. PM me if you have any other questions.

btw, that sucks that you have to go back for work on friday!

A friend of mine had me listening to Maroon 5 recently, kinda dig it. Might have to check them out as well...

It's a shame they don't have guinness down at the grounds. I really don't "Do" domestic beer anymore. Last year I had three MGD's during BT and had a headache by the time the crystal method came on...

yeah, Maroon 5 is good. i like them, but don't think i'm gonna pay ~$40 to see them at the Amp. in fact i don't think there's any shows at the Amp that really interest me. but there's a lot of acts at the ground stages that i wanna check out.

i'll be there 5/10 days, at least.

If anyone needs a hand with Summerfest info or where to stay, let me know. I have lived in Milwaukee for the majority of my life and am very familiar with Summerfest. Just e-mail or pm me.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing Oakie. BT and Crystal Method were solid last year, although I would of rather seen a live instrumentation Crystal Method show rather than a DJ set.

all booked! thanks for the help lucid! the ho-jo's on wisconsin ave has some pretty cheapo rates considering the location. you have to book on their site for the special rate though. was $89 at the time i booked. a little more pricey than non-downtown locations, but who wants to spend more money on cabs/parking when u can just walk your drunk butt :D
