...why artists never always make/never get pressed dub mixes of their tunes if theyre vocal tracks?
i mean sometimes you get dubs, but surely you shoudl always get a dub as it takes about two seconds to remove the vocals and is an extra track and also an extra selling point to all those people who dont like vocals or the vocals in the track for little extra cost/effort.
i just dont get it. |

| Maybe the dub doesnt have the hook that the vocals brings to a track? Also i guess it takes up more space on the record as they could fill it with a big name remix :) |

I think Frase has some kind of point there but that can't be the only reason. I agree on the little effort part. Its very easy if the other mix is just like the vocal mix with less or no vocals. We can only wonder why in the f00kin hell wasn't DJ Sammy - Boys Of Summer (Humate Dub) officially released along with Humate Remix??!! There are loads of tracks out there of which i'd want to get a Dub and/or Instrumental version but i believe i can keep on dreaming...
I believe many tracks of which the dub doesn't get released, it has just something do with "really being worth it" (funny how this reminded me of Bonzai's idealism of not releasing L-Vee related CD albums with full length tracks instead of albums inclucing badly mutilated edits :toothless ).
PS. Dub mixes were back in the day more of just alternate versions (Dub = to record/post record/re-record, a post recording or something like that) of the track and had about nothing to do with the amount of vocals like what Dub seems to mean today. For example check some older Olav Basoski Dub Mixes if he has done another mix too. Then you will see the difference of a remix and a dub. |
