8th notes or 16th notes?
I think you mean whole notes, half notes or quarter notes
trance is usually at 140 bpm
that would mean (roughly) about 2 beats per second. an eigth or 16th note would be 1/8 or 1/16 of each beat... translating to about 16 notes to 32 notes per second... pretty crazy unless you are talking in terms of happy hardcore :haha: |

| look at midi's of your favourite tunes, they will tell you roughly what note length to use. |

hmmm
ya i meant 1/8th of a bar or a half note..i tried workign with half or quarter notes...i've tried a mixture...but with the delay and reverb it gets into mush..you don't hear the rhythm to the song...flanging it makes it even worse...do you guys just use halfs and delay a little bit? i noticed gating more makes it more...rhythmy...? |

Not fixed size because then the melody sounds too primitive.
Try play piano - all notes same size = blood in ears :D
Fixed size = arps and bassline for me (maybe). |
