Why does music always have to be about something?

I find it kind of annoying how people sometimes have hidden meanings in songs even if it is a track with a very plain title.

Why cant there just be artists that, for example, have a song that they made and then named it by what it sounds like.

-Or a song that is based on a dream.

Even if an artist makes a song with a title like "red sun" you'll probably find that that is either a track with a meaning or... or something to do with a drug-related experience :stongue:

you find that a lot of tracks are about love, even when they are coming from a guy.

oh well :conf:

music is meant to describe very complex emotions... that is what artists go for... I'm not sure why anything would be written with no meaning. does that help?

Bah, I hate all the "deeper meaning messages". Listen to it for fun, not to analyze it like it's a literature class.

If songs didnt express emotion and feeling... you would be listening to silence.

nnnnnnnnah.

Radiohead made a song called treefingers.

Now, although we dont know what this song is about, I can guarantee that it is about something. I can make a song with the same sort of sound and I just name it by the way it sounds or what I imagine in my head....

think about it

That's part of the nature of art. Art can have different impacts on different people. Sometimes the artist does have a message they want to communicate, but more often artistic work is meant to stand on its own to multiple interpretations, including none at all.

exactly. "creation seems to come out of imperfection"; whatever inspired you to create something will be encased in your creation.
