Come on this thread is turning into the over-inflated ego thread. Why does you torontotrance post times so many in a thread that supposed to have many peoples opinion. Not the rantings of one person.
Have you made a vow on someones death bed to rid the world of the scurge of Tiesto, who brainwashes people into liking his songs? :haha:
In fact I love 'Just Be' and 'Sweet Misery', they are brilliant songs.
'Just Be' has a message about being the person you want to be. It's one of those songs you like straight away. It's a really uplifting song that will be massive in the clubs.
'Sweet Misery' reminds me a bit of 'Bent' (especially the start) it is tries to be melodic and dark at the same time, which explains the title really because you can't have sweet misery.
I don't think Tiesto can do no right, even if he found a cure for cancer people would still hate him. Then if you become really big then your going to hated. Some people don't like successful people. |

| tiesto just put to many bad vocal tracks on his album, just as paul did. Just Be & UR are not brilliant. How do they bring something new to trance? |

I like the vocals in 'Just Be' because it has a positive message and uplifting vocals and instumentals. If it received a remix is could be made to be a real killer on the dance floor.
UR is not really a trance tune but it a really could tune to chill out and reflect with.
Trance is supposed to be uplifting and melodic, and that was 'Just Be' is. |

ASOT is supposed to be uplifting and melodic (boring vocals trying to be uplifting, such as just be), trance can be a lot more. As i said before, what makes Just Be different from 90% of the other trance vocals out there?

As for me, I like the vocal part of Just be, but I don't agree that it will be the next trance anthem. The vocals are nice, uplifting, and that's all. I miss the elemental power and the creativity in the song. The elemental power that is in Love comes again and the creativity that is in Forever today. A 8/10 from me
As far as Sweet mysery is concerned... Yes, one of the best tunes ever made by Tiësto! What a shame it can't be a real club anthem because of its slowness... Intense vocals, creative synth, I can speak about this song only in superlatives. Well done! 10/10 |

I've heard a lot of people saying that Tiesto is selling out, going commercial etc. I think this album proves that point. The amount of people who are praising these 2 tracks, and his new album in general are proud Tiesto fans, the ones who are not looking at it subjectively, analysing the track and seeing it for what it really is. Of all the Tiesto fans I would imagine the majority of you wouldn't give these 2 tracks a second look if for example they were posted by an Amateur Producer on the forum here on TA.
Take pop, the whole industry is based on selling the artist, their looks, their style - not the music, or at least not solely the music. Pop music for the most part is generic and is only a tool in making up the artists image. So now Tiesto is relying on his image, his solidarity at the top of the game helped by the people who are tricked? into praising him reguardless of the quality of his work.
The tracks are not bad, but they offer nothing new, nothing fresh (A slightly techier/harder? edge to them doesn't count I don't think) - the only thing you can say about them is that the technical production skill is good (not great), but that's expected. Other than that, they're very very plain and in my opinion dull.
I'm not a Tiesto hater, as a DJ he is one of my favourites, but he is a highly capable producer also as he has proved time and time again, but recently he seems to either be out of idea's, or more likely in my opinion - is just being lazy and not pushing as hard to get decent tracks out of himself, knowing the fanbase is there waving their wallets around awaiting every release.
The post is maybe centred around his album more than the 2 tracks you mentioned, but they all sounded equally dull to me ;p Bar Traffic and Nyana and to a lesser extent his mix of Adagio for Strings. Rushed this post a bit, hope it makes sense...:nervous: |

I agree in that these two tracks are not the best ones on the album, but the best vocals are undoubtedly in these two songs. If I want to check Tiësto's producing talent, I'll take Love comes again or Forever today.
I still don't feel that Tiësto's music is getting "commercialised" just because Traffic turned out to be a hit in a much wider area than any other Tiësto-hit before... His previous album was IMHO much more "light" than this. |

| Neither track are very good IMO. They are not uplifting or emotional at all. Both seem to be average instrumentals layered with vocals. However, the mix at Kirty's site is very good. What that mix has, tiesto's mix does not. |
