Invented caller ID??? Wow, then maybe your dad's brother can give you some of the millions he should have made off this so you can pay Bell for the service. :D

As for old video games, back in 1978 when I was 8 and living in this tiny town in Virginia (Reston, VA), the only entertainment in the area was this bowling centre, which also had a pinball room. And in that pinball room, there was this new state-of-the-art game, SPACE INVADERS!!! Man, it was SOOOOO cool! I would spend my allowance for the whole month playing it each time we went there! Of course, there was no winning, just like life, LOL. Oh the memories....

As for cartoons, going back even further when I was living in Iran, I remember I'd wait all in week for one lousy Batman cartoon that came on Wednesday afternoon, but then every now and then it would mysteriously not come on, with no advance notice, despite a whole week of anticipation, probably cuz some religious figure or other was either born or died a thousand years earlier on that day......ing religions!!! :whip:

Yes, his name appears on the patent, but he was an employee of AT&T and hired to make such inventions, so they own the rights. He got a nice bonus though, for sure.

- we had one of those - top loader and a remote attached to it by a cord. I think it cost about $1500 back then which was just a little less than a BMW.

Man this whole thread rocks. I remember when I still had an 8-track player in my room with cartridges of Cheap Trick and Boney M. The mechanism was louder than the music and you could only fast forward in sections of four blocks......essentially you had to listen to the whole thing. I also remember before my hometown (Sudbury) got FM radio....got to love that AM GOLD

"If you like Pina Collada's, and getting caught in the rain......"

HAHHAA! I remember the days as well... the good cartoons being on only on the weekend.

Soooooooooo freakin' true... and I remember watching cartoons from like 8:00 a.m. to noon on those Saturday mornings and I would feel so spaced out and grumpy afterwards because I had to do my chores.

And does anyone remember Jumpman on the Commodore 64?
