Mp3's aren't for me.

I stream then I buy.

If at somepoint I get a laptop w/ final scratch, I would definatley buy mp3's -- as long as they are high quality (256kbps +).

CityKitty

i'll pay for something concrete! and in my case it's cds, not vinyl and it will stay like that! i'd never pay for an mp3 or anything like that! those ing suck IMO.

i'd rather see the industry going this way:
you could choose the tracks you wish and they'd make a cd out of those and ship it to you. or something similar!

In my opinion, all this $1-a-tune and itunes and mycokemusic.com and corporate wank like that, is the last throw of the dice for the big record label corporations.

They are desperately trying to cling on to the established structure of music distribution they've set up over the last few decades, where 95% of the profit goes onto the balance sheet of some mega-corporation, and sod all goes to the artist :whip:

I think they're pushing up hill to be honest. We have had the technology for quite a while now, that allows any old member of the public to engage in studio-quality-recording-on-a-home-pc and distribute their record to the world over the net. To be honest it has made the whole concept of a 'record label' kind of obsolete. The role that they provide - being the middle man between the artists and the public - has become totally unnecessary.

I would love to give my favourite artists $1 for each of their tunes that I download, if I can verify that it's actually going to the people who wrote the tune. Needless to say, pigs will fly before the RIAA lets that happen

I expect that there will be a few large scale bankruptcies over the next few years, and a lot of kicking and squealing from the record labels and the RIAA, before they realize their own uselessness and just die the natural death.

I'd pay for them...

Though not as much as for vinyl...

As when buying a vinyl you get something concrete, not just another pile of data on your harddrive. :)

I would only pay a minimal fee if I would get access to huge database with load of tracks/livesets.

Other than that kthnxno.

I’m with Luke on this one. I buy enough vinyl to more than make up for the one or two tracks I download now and then. ;)

The labels should sell .wavs of their tracks or atleast 320kbps mp3s before i would start buying anything. If they would sell wavs you could burn them on cd and play them out without the audience hearing any difference to a normal cd.

I usually don't pay for EDM because there is sooo much out there and so much to listen to...I'd go broke o quickly if I had to pay .99 cents a song.
