okay, i know most people here are football fans and the rest either hate bonds or dont respect what he's done due to the steroid scandal... but...
.525, 9 HRs, 20 RBI's, 5 2B's, with 4 SO's and a ridiculous 24 BB's.
i am one of the few people that still believe bonds is steroid-free, but even if he is juicing, those numbers are incredible. canseco juiced, he never hit like that. mcguire took andro (which is now an illegal substance) and he never hit like that. bonds has seen 241 pitches and been up to the plate 64 times (that includes walks and sac flies). and (this is ridiculous) he has only swung and missed at 7 (SEVEN!!) pitches. the point of this thread is this: whether you love him, hate him, or really could care less about him, next time he's playing your team, go to the park. in 50 years when you're talking to your grand kids you can say 'yeah, i saw bonds play once. he was amazing.' i know next time he's in ny, i'm going. he's the best hitter of our generation and something i definitely don't want to miss out seeing.

| He's the best pure hitter ever, no question in my book. I could care less if he juices or not, it still won't help you make contact with the ball which he manages to do at almost every plate appearance. I'm not a Bonds fan in the least, but I respect the hell out of what he does every game. Never has there been such a feared batter. |

| yeah juice wouldnt of made him the hitter he is ...they said he has the fastest swing of the ball ... they showed some review thing on him verses most other hiters, the reason why hes such a good hitter is because his swing is so fast. Normal batters who start the motion so much sooner where as bonds was later. Meaning because of his bad speed he could wait little bit longer and truely see the ball tot he bat and hit it fast enough with the speed. Making it easier to hit every single good pic. If nothing dramatic happens next few years ull see his name as the top overall HR hitter of all time above Hank Aaron.. Bond's HR record year his overall stats had to been the best offesive stat of any one play at any one season in modern age baseball. |

| yeah, and the thing that most casual fans see is 'only' 45 homeruns last year. but they dont realize that he walked 150 times. he only had 390 ABs... give him and extra 200 and he would've hit 70 again. amazing, simply amazing. |

| Yup, without a doubt the best hitter I've ever saw! Have to say though that Pujols has run him very close for MVP the past few years and even beat Bonds to Hank Aaron awatd last year. Pujols is the future of the National League, although he's started fairly average this year his batting average will rise and still has fairly impressive RBI and HR numbers after 24 games. |

I also don't think BB is using roids. I mean everyone who's come forward about it has had there careers slowed by lots of nagging injuries, and that just hasnt happened to bonds. And steroids don't give you incredible eye sight either.
Oh and as far as best pure hitter ever, I wouldnt go that far Ted Williams was probably the best, hell as far as pure hitter goes Manny Ramirez may be the best one in the game today. |

Dude bonds has always been a good hitter. Even before he was hitting record-book homers he was always known as a good hitter in his career.
I never really cared about his juicing situations or whatever, but It does kind of suck for the legend of the Big Bambino.. When I was a kid I worshipped that guy, It just makes me sad that it took outside influences to beat the bambino's records...
The thing is that Babe Ruth when he was on the Yankees, is that he was always a very good homerun hitter every year of his career. You have to count out his years with Boston, because he was a pitcher for most of his years.
He truely was a phenomenon at his sport.. Truely. Same with Ty Cobb, even if the rules were a bit different back then, sometimes people can't really comprehend the magnitude they had on the game. |

hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
let me put it this way.
concidering Babe Ruth's era, the fact that he was originally a pitcher, the fact that not one person hit even half of the homeruns he did in a season, and half of the league combines didn't get half... I'd say he's the best of all time.
As for Bonds, he's very good, he's most likely using some kind of enhancement but whether it's 'roids I am going to say no.
He stays in good shape, trains hard, and probably uses some protein supplements...but then again who doesn't, i know I did this summer and bulked up with more power in my legs etc. |
