Hey, TA'ers. I'm pretty new (registered a few weeks ago), and I'm 14 years old (my birthday is in August). I wanted to see what feedback I could get for my latest track. I know I'm no where near pro compared to most of you people (you people are practically almost or are the trance elite, IMO), but I'd like to know how to improve.
I've been making electronic music for about a year now, in FLS, but I really only started understanding how to construct a trance song that really is trance (not just trying to be trance).
Freefall is a melodic trance track. It's about seven minutes and something minutes long. You can download the track here.
Constructive feedback, please. I don't want to get killed by my first time asking for advice on a track on TA. =\ |

14?!? You got a real headstart on so many people there matey. I'm downloading this now......
Hmm, after listening I can hear pros and cons. Pros are you seem to get the structure pretty good. The breakdown is good, especially the build to the kickoff. The FX are good too.
Cons are that bass, and the fact you go straight into the chord changes without any build. Also the bassdrum could be better.
I really think you need to keep at this. If you are at this point and 14, mate who knows where you'll end up. I think you'd really benefit from looking for an article by Eufex about EQing your bassdrum and bass together. Google for it. I personally have found the pointers given fundamental on my journey. That, and (here I go again) the article on here by Sean Walsh. Search for ATRC bass and you should find it. It'll improve your sound no end.
I'll listen on my monitors upstairs tomorrow and give you some more detailed feedback.

Hey, thanks, man! =) I certainly will keep up at this since it really is a lot of fun! I'll take your word for it and look up some info on EQ'ing the bass and bass drum together. Looks like that would help a lot. I'll keep in mind to start without chord changes for the next song, but I'm not exactly sure how to progress a song from no chord changes to chord changes.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Edit: Also, considering your name, I bet you are pretty demanding about the bass in a song. ;-) But that's all right-- if I'm going to make good music I need to get the bass really good. |

just listened to it, and gotta say, for 14yrs old, I'm impressed, its not bad at all, if you just do what BassAngel said, you would have a really nice track, I would definately drop it in a club.
keep it up man, your 14, by 16 you could be making amazingly good tracks. |

very good for a 14 year old producer i must say. You remmind me alot of myself :D. Anyway, about the topic. The melody is pretty good. I dont like the bass progression at the begining ,nice synths. The buildup could be better, sounds kina empty. Well the most and this has already been said so,
Keep working ;).
Nice work.

| Suggestions made already are what I would have recommended. Nice melody, has potential, but the track is sort of empty, there's no buildups, and there isn't much of an introduction buildup. Needs more depth in the bass category. Keep working, really good for 14. I remember when I tried to make s3ms when I was 14, they sound like nintendo music compared to what you got going. |

| Hey, thanks everyone for the pretty positive feedback. =) I'll keep in mind to try to add more energy, and I definitely will keep up with the production studio board. For things in terms of buildups, could you guys suggest some things that maybe I could add to augment them? I know there are lots of really cool buildups, but how exactly do you go about making one? |

Hey guy, I like it. Yeah, it needs some improvement but you have the skills..all you need is to polish them. :
I LOVE the arpeggiated lead that comes at 2:48...what did you use for it? Reminds me of my Nova. :)
Great job there! |
