if you play these over one another at the same speed at the same points does neone else think this sounds heaps cool? lol
it sounds like that effect on the djm600 but i rkn it sounds a bit different.. a lil better <:

yea it creates a flanger effect, it is pretty cool, you can do some amazing things with the records like that, I've heard some people do things with 2 records, that the DJM could never do.

hey you wanna create another effect, start one of the records 1 beat behind the other, can sound pretty sweet, its a delay effect.
Tranc3
What you're getting is two waveforms that are slightly out-of-phase....it's actually a phaser, not a flanger. Flanging started off with engineers manually slowing down the tape reel, whereas phasing is done by starting them off at slightly different points.

Which, btw, means that if you're getting that effect, your records aren't lined up perfectly:p
razzi
also, you dont necessarily need the two of the exact same record. ive done that effect before using two heavy bass tracks at the same time, works just the same.

also, if you DO have two of the same record, you can do some great looping effects or beat juggling and whatnot. its fun to sometimes incorporate turntablist techniques into trance :)
rainbow_marble
fun to use 2 of the same hiphop record... can do some funky ass shieeeeet with that.

btw was just looking at tranc3s avatar.. does anyone else think james holden is one of the ugliest people ever? k
Prodigy Child
thanks for clearing that up Tranc3, wasn't completely sure which one it was.

Razzi: thats what I'm looking into right now, I would love to be able to do what turntablists do, and then apply it to Trance, would make it very interesting, just as long as you don't go overboard with it.

Submerge101 (he's from Detroit, I think?) does that. He spins all over the place--trance, prog, bangin house, even some techno, all in the same set. And he scratches like a mother****** over it all, juggles beats, all sorts of wild . He's also a big fan of ing with the partiers' heads, and extending builds longer than any rational person could believe. He rewards you when it kicks back in, though :)

example: the track playing had a pretty big build after the break to begin with, but he started juggling it back and forth with his cue track. went on forEVER, seemed like. finally lets the kick drop, and started scratching this insane rhythm playing a harmony to the melody of the track.

It was hot.

Do you know anyone who can line records up that perfectly? :)
Spin Doctor
Having two copies of a tune is where the real technical fun of DJ’s starts, lol. I’ve actually bought two copies at once of many a record in the past with a mind to doing tricks with them!

Got some funny looks in the record shop for it!
:p

That sounds awesome, do you know where I could buy a cd from him with this kind of mixing in it, or where there might be somewhere to dowload his mixes??.

No offense but it sounds like a pretty lame shop if they look at you funny for buying doubles. Well maybe if they are not used to the turntablist crowd maybe... but still.
