Is This Good For A Beginner? (pg. 2)

I went the expensive route to begin with so I have never played with the lower priced equipment. But, in all honesty, I don't know what is wrong with telling you to buy a setup like this. If this is what you can afford and are willing to spend then go for it. I don't see why it wouldn't be sufficient for very simple home applications.
There might be some issues with the decks not holding their pitch well and so forth. Sound quality might also be an issue. If you just want to play around the choice is yours. There's a reason why most of the better stuff costs a lot more than these package deals.
You will want better at some point so you might look at it like throwing away this 300 bucks to start now. Then again, you can think of it as an expensive rental and play on it until you can or want to afford something better.
You know, I don't really think I said one damn meaningful thing in this post. Amazing. |

Will this be enough for the basic needs of a bedroom DJ? All I need is something that works good enough for me to make mixes. |
Yes, as long as it lasts. Usually the problem with cheap eqipment (besides ty sound quality) is build quality which translates into how long it lasts before getting all ed up. I guess you could be ok with this setup, it is real cheap so its got that going for it. |

Lol.
How long do you think these things would last me?
Optionally there is the more expensive route (which is out of my price range...but it's a wonderful little package)

Pioneer CDJ100's and a Behringer DX626 Pro. 3-Channel Mixer for $600
I wish I could afford it, but weighing out money to move out and $300 xtra bucks for some equipment I might not even use after a while...I dunno.
I', very torn right now. |

| Why cant you want another couple months and save up a few more hundred bucks for something better? It took me a year to complete my setup, now Im rocking a better setup than some of the DJs here who have been doing this for a while. |

I am a full time college student...I work 25 hours a week making roughly $155 p/ week. I am religiously putting $100 p/ week away in the bank for my moving out funds. By January (when I'm scheduled to move out) I will have roughly $6400 in my bank account. I need that money very badly to move out, as I make crap for $ and I can't afford to get another job because I can't deal w/ 2 jobs and I can't switch jobs b/c my current one gives me VERY much needed medical insurance.
In all honesty I just worked it out and I COULD throw down the $600 for the Pioneer CDJ100's and Behringer DX626 Mixer and have roughly $5800 for moving out...
Like I said I'm very torn on what to do... |

| See, I feel your pain, because I too am a full-time college student, but I make half of what you make a week only because Im limited to working 15 hours a week, I want to get a second job, but there isnt much decent work out there for fridays, saturdays and sundays. Either way, this is what I would do... buy everything piece by piece, dont rush it, if your just doing it to be a bedroom DJ, than I dont understand why you would need it so badly. I understand that it itches to start practicing, I have 2 Techs and a Xone sitting in my room that I dont touch because I didnt have the last bits of my equipment. The best way to get your stuff piece by piece would be through eBay, although used, I got a MINT no scratches SL1210 w/ Ortofon Concorde for $290. My only advice about buying from eBay, if you buy from powersellers, make sure you check their feedback, any powersellers with a feedback rating less than 95% is not worth the trouble. If your gonna buy it from an actual person that doesnt have alot of feedback, try to stick to 100% feedback rating for safety measures. |

dude i reckon u should save up for the pioneer CDJ100 package for $600.. at least u know the stuff works and all plus its got the jogwheel .. those stanton CD players look pretty dodgey to me not that i've got experience with any of them, but i still reckon u should save up for the CDJ's .. least u'll be able to re-sell em.
EDIT: btw putting away away $100 out of ur $155 is a mighty fine effort for a college student mate! if only i could be so tight with my money i'd have cd players in no time =/ but yeah like someone above said if u wait a extra couple months u can get the extra cash and get the CDJ package |

| i would see if you can get some used cd decks locally. Also the pioneer cdj-100 should be fine for what you want to do. |

u know what, i was like you when i started. all i wanted was something to do when i was bored so i thought of buying cheap cd players and a mixer. i did some research and decided to save a little bit more for cdj100s. that time, i already thought i bought good enough players and that i would be contented(im not saying that they r not good). but after just a month of using them, i got tired of them and sold them and the mixer to buy 2 second hand techs. then i saved up for a djm 500. and im really happy i did. but i still wish i listned to the djs that told me to go for 1200s right away.
if i wer u, id think hard before buying gear, make sure you really want them or you might just be wasting your money on something you wont use after a month. and if you decide you really want to, then go buy decent equipment(u could get used gear if your on a budget). hth:) |

yo man just save up and get the cdjs.. you would 'outgrow' the stanton package in half a year.
many people are speaking from experience here so its your best bet. |
