help pls.. blue screen of death

whenever I log off I am using XP and it now doesn't give me the option to standby only restart & shut down. When I do shutdown it goes through the motions & then bluescreen (too quick to read) then it re boots... what can I do? I did have a safe login to this pooter but it seems that is affected as well.
any help would be great as I don't fancy a reinstall :(

start - accessories - system tools - system restore
take the system back to a restore point that was before the trouble started. this sorta happened to me after dling a driver update that went wrong somehow.

| if you want to read the blue screen.. go to setting->control panel->system->advanced, look under startup and recovery, click settings, then under system failure, uncheck 'automatically restart' |
