TFST-NYC 008 Review/My Thoughts...

Hello everybody.. great seeing all of you on friday and thank you for making this one a special memorable birthday ! i had such an awesome time spinning and hope all of you had fun as well...
i was thinking this wknd about clubbing in nyc and the trance/edm scene in general... as you all might know, i frequently post on the ny section and been doing so for a while now and ive noticed a pattern.. so many ppl on here that has potential to support underground movements such as ours or other small local parties, simply do not.. and i have hard time understaning that part.. of course going to super clubs such as crobar, roxy and avalon is fun.. big dance floor, lots of visuals, monster sound and your fav. international djs gracing the decks...
but i believe those big parties will always get support.. first of all from you guys, and from ppl that are there for the hype.. i can gaurantee you that tiesto & pvd will continue to come to nyc for a quite long time... you guys gotta undestand that really contributing to the edm scene in nyc is by supporting local parites, up and coming talent and friends.. thats the next wave of things and these are what really need your support.. im not saying the big names dont need your support as well but thats pretty much given.. your gonna be going to tiesto/pvd/armin/ferry parties even if someone told you not to...
i just want to stress that myself and the tfst kru plan and organize events for all of you guys.. just basically to provide great music each month at a location where ppl can gather and express themselves... and to pass on such a simple thing makes me wonder what the real intentions of ppl here are.. are you REALLY in the scene for the MUSIC ? or the PARTY itself ?... i wanna tell you guys we wont be able to continue without the proper support and decided to let you all know what we're really about.. we're not in it for the hype, fortune, fame.. we're strictly here to provide great music, nice dance floor, friendly environment, and to expose local talent that deserve the attention.. with an admission fee thats less than a pack a newports..[im a smoker..;)] thats it. and we will continiue to do so..
i wanna thank all of you that been to our previous events and i'll look forward to seeing some new faces in the future.. bigger & better things are in the works for tfst.. stay tuned folks and thanx for your time.

Nice post Tek, couldn't agree with you more on this subject. Personally, my days of spending $25-$40 bucks to go see a DJ, who is grossly over paid and more importantly lacks the skill to justify such an outrageous price tag are dwindling down. Seriously people, once you look past the hype that surrounds so many of these "superstar" DJs, you come to the realization that your local jock who is playing at Joe Schmo's bar, for a fraction of the price can most likely take that big name jock to school.

man,,my big regret about New York is not catching you guys............mate i had mike koglin-silence played at my wifes funeral what a tune...but i would of just had to leave when you played it....I'm gutted,,it would of been so interesting to see how you put this mix together..............mate I dont care about your principles,,repeat this gig in your bedroom tonight and record it for me...... |

| this couldnt be said better...it just seems that there is alot of people on this site who aren't in it for the music...popularity contest? i dunno - however im sure if i said free food n drinks at our tfst july 4th bbq im sure a gang load would come..come on guys support it doesnt cost anything and you get to hear some good live music.... |

yeah but getting people in through the door in the first place is the important thing...once theyre in,,educate the ******s with the music so they wont wanna leave....in a few years time or maybe even less,,these people will be ed off with wankers like PVD & AVB then my friend youve got em.....and if they dont appreciate sets like the one listed above,,then 'em....they don't deserve to be at the party anyway,,and would you really want them there......stay passionate,,so what if youre not playing to big crowds,,,at least you're playing to people who wanna be there.........when S&D first started doing the Northern Exposure parties they kinda went off on this epic house tip,,people actually stopped going to see them...but they stuck to their guns and didn't sell out,,then gradually everyone came round and started going again,,S&D determined where they were taking their music...not the fans,,not the record companies or anyone else........Stick to what you wanna do... Em.... |

For real though, how in' disheartening is it when a thread about a football player (Eli Manning!) gets more views and replies then a thread (TFST-NYC 008 Review/My Thoughts...) concerning a real issue within the NYC edm scene. I'd like to know what other people think about supporting local talent.

mate I'm in' passionate about this scene...my only problem is, I'd rather see ya keepin' it real in small venues rather than get big and famous.......if you do get famous do me one favour...carry your own record boxes..... |
