DOwnloaded some PvD set, I think Winter Music COnference 2004.
Was skipping through cause it was pretty crappy, and i heard ride, i stopped and listened, and not only was it the breaks version . . PvD had not slowed the set down for it, he just pitched Ride up like 20%!! it sounded fkn ridiculous! Sorry i just thought this was hilarious.
If you have unlimited downloads download the set and have a laugh :p |

Tru, i started to realise how much i like PVD sets after i kept listening to them, and also his Reflections album which recieved bad reviews because he done a different style... i mean boo hoo, it just shows his creativity. If you gave that concept to any other producer they wouldn't have made the same quality.
Look at BT and his "Emotion Technology" album, which recieved bad reviews because it done a different style but staying close minded will do that.
Both masterpieces

Actually his reworks make the song 100 times better, a clear example is "Project Six - Omega Zero (Paul Van Dyk Rework", listen to the original, then check this rework. He added alot of elements to stay clear of him just adding a new bassline. This is one nice rework. |

Whats so suprising? Its a cheesy tune for a cheesy DJ
And Reflections n BTs Emotional Technology were - Reflections especially...can everybody please stop sticking up for him using the 'experimentation' arguement? Seriously, if he's gonna en experiment, how about finding some new drum samples n synths? All the tunes on 'Reflections' are under-produced, sound amatuerish and soooooooo 'empty' its not funny. 'Knowledge' is ing hilarious...DATS A SIK BREAK PAUL!!
Edit: Take BT's Emotional Technology outta that outburst above...its still , but its well produced. He works in so many subtleties - if you listen hard enough, you can even hear the subtle whizzing of money counters in the background!! |

Go take a listen to the Reflections LP, got it last week or so and it's quite different, it's more punchier.
BT has taken a big turn but he is using his talent to good use, i mean ffs he is making movie scores. He done scores like "fast and the furious, Monster and more. No other producer could do all these genres. And who cares that is concentrating about the money, if you were in his position you would have taken the EXACT same path.
So this thing about artist selling out is nonsense.
And seriously who really cares about the kick he uses, ffs it's not like it's the hardest thing to create. It's probably a kick that makes him happy to use and make his songs stronger. |

I beg to differ, his reworks are up to absolute ! I mean even myself, with no education in the field of production can add a simple PvD bassline to each and every track and claim it to be a "Rework".
An example also of how PvD makes tracks 100 times worse, is Sasha's Wavy Gravy. I mean for god sake, he did a fantastic job of ruining an absolute masterpiece by adding that bassline. Uncreative, Unoriginal and plain and simply . (looks to prog. allies for support and that includes you Wade ;) ) |
