need computer help

ok so my computer is kindda new... *not really but long story short*
i have nothing on it.. since it was formated by hp, and its like a brand new one.
anyways here is the problem....
i download a set from TA, and i go to change the name of it, and it tells me this..
i thought wtvr, ill change the name and nothing will happen but then the file is all retarded and i cant make it to have the winamp logo

| dude, just type ".mp3" at the end when you rename it and it will work. |

but then, for instance
i get this
Sander Kleiningberg live @ ultra 2004.mp3 as the name and i dont wnat my files having .mp3 at the end of every name.. u know what i mean? |

okay then... click on my computer, click on tools -> folder options
under the view tab, click "hide file extentions for known file types" |

wow i did that and now i dont have to type .mp3... GENIOUS Dmatrox..
