Two DJs: One is a tech-head whose mastery of all things wired is matched only by his love of the underground; the other is a jack-of-all-trades who has worked as a music critic, A&R scout, and dance music journalist in addition to his time on the ones and twos. Separately, they achieved a respectable degree of individual success. But when Dave The Wave Dresden joined forces in the studio with Josh Gabriel to form the powerhouse production team Gabriel & Dresden, the dynamic duo were suddenly thrust into the upper tier of dance music royalty.
In their three years of collaboration, G&D have racked up a jaw-dropping list of accolades: 33 remixes (eight of them Number Ones on the Billboard Club Play Chart), two original productions and the ubiquitous smash As the Rush Comes under their Motorcycle pseudonym with singer Jes Bieden.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Gabriel & Dresden were recently rewarded for their contribution to electronic music with a 2004 DanceStar Award for Best Breakout DJs.
Truly, this is a duo that is decidedly greater than the sum of its parts.
