I was just curious what you guys do for your Promo CD packaging.
Do you:
1) Create a custom Jewel case insert, custom CD label. (homemade)(Time consuming)

2) Have your CD's professionally Duplicated With folding Jewel case insert and "Hard" CD label (professional)(Pricey)

3)Take your standard CD-R jewel case, write some info on it and the CD and call it good. (homemade)(Easy)

What kind of info do you put on it: DJ name, contact info, track lists, etc...

write your name real big on the CD
with your url or contact details.

also include a tracklist that would be nice.

I always use the first option, although I did spend a few years majoring in graphic design so its pretty easy for me to bang out cool covers. Most programs for homemade CD printing come with some designs which can be used, you just need some creativty to make a good cover. A nice cover can go a long way, people see it first before they even listen to the music, so keep that in mind.

most promoters don't want cd covers because they jam cd players... #3 is pretty standard. you're cover isn't going to get you a gig... however a nice portfolio with Pictures, Bio, tracklists, contact info & demo's is what i send. Works for me and makes me look very serious about what i'm applying for :)

#3 so far.

however if I was to try for anything serious I woudl definitely do what Zombie0729 does. Its very professional that way and it provides them with all the important info.

Usually #3. Although my girlfriend always ends up making covers and cd labels for me soon afterwards, then I use those.

The problem with getting it professionally done is you need to buy a lot of them. It's really not worth it.
