Scirocco - Scirocco [Fenology]

The 3rd release from Woody van Eyden's new label Fenology came out this week on the 26th, though Only-Dj's happened to got it earlier [the 23rd] which I was quite happy about! :D

Scirocco is the latest alias of Alex MORPH and you notice right away that this track is quite different from he's previous works [though maybe similiar to the style of Arc In The Sky which is another Alex MORPH alias]. It's a step away from his usual harder edge and settles for something a bit more melancholic and uplifting.
The track starts off with the usual formula - layers of reptitive riffs participate to the tracks build-up but things start to get a bit interesting as the build-up peaks then diminishes, leaving that distinct synth with the strings as its' harmonic guide. This is where the overall melodic mood sets it's place but really we can just call it the breakdown :wtf: ... Though ordinary breakdown this is not, this is one of the most emotional and melodic breakdowns that I have heard; sooothing strings, that europhoric brass-synth-sound [sorry don't know that name] which acts as the ground bass, and the main sharp melody all contribute to a very nostalgic-sounding movement. When I first heard the part in Scott Bond's Exposure set, it reminded of those children si-fi and fantasy movies back in the 80's [Never Ending Story etc] - a mystical image.
The initial phrase finishes and the bass-kick gets introduced as a prelude to the next bit - the main body - where the synths all come flusing in: peak-time euphoria. :eyes:
The track then carries us out with the reptitive riffs that were floating earlier in the track, providing a good "cue-in-the-next-track" phase for DJ's.

It's good to see that there are still some good uplifting stuff out there and this is definitely one of those very few gems. Scott Bond and Goldenscan championed this track alot through their sets and Ferry Corsten seems to be playing it now - a shame it's not played out more, its been very quiet really [but maybe because there were only 20 promo copies press or something like that???].

I don't usually post reviews but I had to with this one. Such a beautiful track deserves proper exposure! :D

very nice trancer...likewise remember hearing it on Scott Bond's Exposure Festival set, good to hear it's finally out. the Alex M.O.R.P.H mix is a solid trancer with some great melodies, while the Shane 54 mix is also very melodic and leans a little towards progressive trance, both great mixes.

8.5/10

wtf...he couldn't come up with a better alias than "scirocco???"
There is already an artist called "Sirocco" (solar stone alias I think?) all Alex did was add an extra "C," that's gonna be a bit confusing...

no ...how do you know he didn't do it on purpose? Perhaps simply for the sake of s and giggles? :)
btw, Sirocco is Michelle Maddock...remember Sirocco - Destination ? great track...probly Solar Stone vs. Sirocco - Destination

Great review man! This should set an example on how reviews

should be. Anyways, regarding the track.. pretty good, but nothing

groundbreaking. Really enjoyed the Impulsive Drive remix.

M.O.R.P.H.'s remix was good, too, but it didn't really do anything

fantastic in my opinion. Nothing really for me to remember it by.
