Do u guys get swayed by a nice track name or nice moniker/track name?
If there are 2 records that sound just as good to u, and one was called something ultra cool and the other's name sucked. would u buy the ultra cool named one ? |

No, the name doesn't sway me when I am making a purchase. If they both sound cool, chances are I will by them both. I do have a bad habit when I am shopping for vinyl through titles instead of listening that I look for names that sound like something I would listen to. This is totally the wrong approach though since I have bought some records with the worst names that have turned out to be pretty good and vice versa.

if its got a cool name, i might be a little more likely to pick it up, but if they are both good...get them both. i also might pick up something to listen to if its got a cool sleeve hehehe...but that's about the extent something like that has...

heh, thats how i used to brows through vinyl at my local record shop. id go through and look for titles that sounded nice, in the genre area i was looking for, and give them a listen to see if i liked em. jeeze, what a waste of time that was.... i went through so much crap, and bought stuff that was mediocre because it was the best out of the stack i was listening to.... i think its better to just learn names and labels, and even stores or sites. some sites put out more of a distinct style of music than another site. but i spose im not really answering your question... ok ok... i spose i would take the track with the 'ultra cool' name, provided i liked both tracks equally and could only afford one. but a nice lookin label would influence me more than the name of the track, but even the label shouldnt really influence anyone...

When in a real record store and flipping through the bin, I look for labels and artists (either the original or a remix by) that I recognize and listen to those. I buy most of my stuff online though were this is less of an issue.

well.. when sifting through a basket of whites/promos i usually look at the name. if its something like DJ ALLIGATOR PROJECT or DJ DRUG MASTER PLUS then i probably wont pick it out. I usually go for something that looks like a quality name, i like to listen to ones with handwritten stuff on it and the completely blank whites with nothing at all on it. Oh and if i ever see a promo that is on a colored vinyl, i usually give it a listen :)
