The thread got trashed due to whatever happened to the forum.
Basically, I'm having serious troubles writing a breakdown for the current track I'm working on.

And yes, I know there are other issues with the track as well, but I've got those under control. The breakdown is what's killing me.
Suggestions, anyone? I'll be forever grateful. |

I'll give you my thoughts on the track here also.
You could start your track at the point where the clap comes in.
Put in the basssynth from the start also.
Your synthsounds are great. Which software or hardware did you use??
around 1:09 break 1!
around 2:54 little break that could be before break 1
around 3:58 again little break.
around 5:00 the main break is there
around 7:00 I'm still in that main break.
Silence to your climax isn't a way nowadays
so you see there are lot of breaks. The changs in sound are also to far from eachother.
You have several ideas for synth melodys and sounds that work well together here. Your drums are straight away samples. No eqing, compressoion or volume adjustments. also work on a drums arrangment with more percussion and make a build up for the drum track too.
The lead at 6:57 with the bass could be a start of a break.
I'd suggest you work this track to one break which is shorter than the main break now.
If you have some great drumtrack with alot going on you can start with only that. But I won't start with only a kick. Put in some backgroundsynths you already use in the rest of the track.
From that point, a drumtrack and bass and background synth, you put in several melodies that play over the drum track and bass and backgroundsynths.
So you have a buidup of the background with melodies playing over it.
One way to move into the break, is to mute the kick and slowly fade out, moving down the cuttof(you don't use it do you) all the drumns. When the drums is gone fade out the rest till you have only some sound left that are the bottom, not only low sounding synths, for your Leadsynth.
well let me know if you can work somthing out.
As I said really nice synthsounds but now you have to work on the whole arrangment. Try to think of a longer line with the sound you can create.
PM me if you have questions |

Wow, thank you very much! This was certainly more information that I was expecting :)
The synth sounds are all from Linplug Albino (V 1.0), except for the percs, which are samples from various sources (the built in 909 synth from Orion, mostly). And actually, the bass kick is EQ'd and compressed--just not very well :/
You're definitely right about the percs, though. I do need more. As for the intro with just the kick, then closed hat, then clap, that's put in more in the hope that someone will want to mix this into a set, so I've given them 16 bars to mix in with.
I've shortened the main break, and rather than the silence at the end (which is something I love; I don't mind if nobody else is doing it these days), the synths go a little crazy.
I'll be uploading an updated version soon.
Thank you very much :) |
