| Back when i had those....and still now that i have my pioneers...I just wouldn't take them anywhere. They stayed on my table next to my turntables. On the off chance that I did take them outside of the room.....I'd have them on my neck at all times. Never, ever put them down or stuck them in a bookbag or anything of that sort. I had another cheaper pair of headphones for when I would need to do something like that. And they lasted a damn long time that way. That much caution is not really necessary, but...why not? and it works. |

My sonys (and my pioneers come to think of it) dont generally get removed from my neck most of the night. I dont put the headband over my head either- it stays behind my neck when im mixing.
When folded, they are extended to maximum.
never ever placed in a tight bag or anything.
Apart from a hairline crack in an unusual place (not the normal place that sonys break) they are fine. Pioneers also fine.
If you have anew pair of sonys- tape them up now, before they start to crack. |

A lot of wound??
I had a set of mdr-v500s for my first year and a half or so....they're plenty fine for what you're doing. I still have them around...they're decent enough. Sure more expensive headphones are better...but not necessary...and when you do get them, it makes you appreciate them all that much more. |

| The best way to protect the headphones is to wind and tie some cotton thread - or other thin/strong string or the like around the plastic casing of the arms leading down to the cups (the tubular arm just below the R and L markings. This is the most vulnerable part and nearly always ends up cracking otherwise. I have doubled the life of my latest pair by doing this. |

WHAT HE SAID! Seriously, v700's suck. Period. They break like british cars, sound like ass compared to senn's or v6's or other fine brands, and are uncomfortable as hell on the ears. Why the hell do people continue to buy them? Because they see all their favorite DJ's with them? Fyi, these DJ's are mostly deaf :D
Please people, take this from me. I owned v700s and took only the finest care of them, and they broke in just over a year. For a $100 dollar pair of headphones, thats bull. I damn well expect them to last nearly forever.
I can reccomend from personal experience the MDR v7506. I've had mine for a year and a half and they are as sturdy as the day I bought them, and sound just as fine. |
