Roger Sanchez @ Spirit ?

Did anyone go there, and make it in? How was it?
I came at 1 am, and the lines outside were crazy. Not PVD @ Twilo crazy, but still. Was Roger Sanchez really that big of a draw or something?
They were letting in "couples and ladies" first, so with the stream of such people coming in, it meant that guys without girls had to wait quite a while before getting in.
I think I even saw a promoter waiting in line for a while, on the other side.
Question for y'all: Would you rather have a door policy like this, or the chance that the club might be a sausage fest?
Maybe it applies only to the places that pull in enough people, that they can afford to be selective.
Anyways, it seemed that even if I had waited, it would've been mad packed inside. I'll be able to catch Sanchez again soon, and hopefully be able to come out earlier then.
So I went over to Quo, but despite a shorter line, I saw women who were waiting in line for a while, which wasn't a good sign. It appeared that to get in, you had to either know someone, or have a table reservation. So after a few minutes in line, I bounced from there.
The crowd seemed to be older, and the club appeared to be "upscale and exclusive". The bouncers were dressed in suits. |

I went and the music was nothing short of BANANAS! It was definitely packed inside, but not to the point where there was no room to dance or breathe. I was really impressed by the air-conditioning system in there. I was dancing all night and stayed pleasently cool throughout. It was my first time to Spirit and it was kind of hard to believe that this was once Twilo. The whole bottle service thing is so anti-whatever Twilo ever stood for. But believe it or not, I like the space more now than I did when it was Twilo.
Is it just me or did like 10 new clubs pop open in that area?
Also can anyone ID this female vocal that Roger played last night where she was saying "I like it when...I like it...."? |

I dunno about 10, but there are a good number of new places there - Spirit, Crobar, Quo (last night was opening night), Marquee (around the corner from Spirit - I've read that it's an A-list type place).
Bungalow 8, Coral Room, Brite Bar and Glass are also in that area.
It seemed that the area was kinda dead after Twilo and Tunnel closed, but is now coming back. |

I dunno, but I had an awesome time my first time at Spirit. I love what they did what the place..the VIP isnt 30 feet above the floor like in Crobar, and the sound system was tight and the DJ booth is right there in front. The crowd was so-so...the girls were insanely hot..some of the hottest girls I have ever seen out in a club before..but a lot of the guys were completely faced and were playing ping-pong with everyone in the crowd...but luckily the crowd disappated alot by 4 - 4:30 so there was plenty of room to dance.
He played alot of hot tracks..Deep Dish - Flashdance, remix of Diamond Life, and that track Bebe was talking about..."I like it when you go to extremes, I like it when you enter my dreams.."awesome vocals!! I would love to have that track ID'd. |

I hate that Narcotic Thrust track.... maybe it was from hearing it live @ Nikki Beach during WMC.... but the vocalist was friggin awful...
Now everytime i hear it I cringe....
Sucks I missed Roger again.....
Wonder if he'll be back before Ibiza season sends him off to Pacha all summer? |

I heard it for the first time on Saturday so I'm still giving it its 5 minutes of glory. I think the vocalist is actually really good. What is it that you dont like about the way she sings? I definitely see this song turning into that really annoying song that they cant stop playing over and over and over again on KTU. But hey, its definitely a hit single....something the dance music industry needs right now. |
