| because we would here it moving, like a notch filter i think |

| hey cheggy |
| I already have tinnitus. That's enough high frequency oscillation for me |

ok, what about MFO's then? :thepirate
and I'm not talking about mother in oreos neither. |

The actual oscillators that produce sound (osc 1, 2 etc... in a synth) ARE high frequency oscillators. A high speed oscillation creates sound. That's why LFO's are distinguished from "normal" oscillators. Their movement is too slow to create sound. Usually we say that the human hear is capable of hearing from 20 Hz and upwards (to 20 kHz). An LFO usually oscillates with a frequency below 20 Hz.
But some synth manufacturers have made LFO's that are fast enough to produce some kind of sound. If you modulate another oscillator (pitch mainly) with such an LFO, you get ringmodulation. So that's the explanation why some LFO's can do ringmod stuff... |

| As the person above me said, HFOs are also known as sound generators. Additionally, taking a HFO and linking it to the amplitude and/or frequency of a LFO will produce sound...known as AM and FM synthesis. |

ummmm, in synthesis the difference between LFO's and oscs doesn't really matter much. In modulars you can use normal oscs as LFO's too.
And FM is if you control the pitch/frequency of an osc with another osc (or LFO)
AM is if you control the VCA with an osc (or an LFO)
All an osc does is produce voltages that fluctuate....the beauty of it all is that there's no difference between audio signal and control voltages....yeah....:thepirate |

| Cool, these few pieces fit perfectly in this big puzzle. But still a dummy.. what does VCA stand for? |

hahaha MFO's! I need to get me some MFO's and dip them in some MFM (mother f_ckin milk) |
