DVD--->VCR tape?

Hey Everyone,
I was wondering how I need to hookup my DVD player to my VCR to copy a dvd to a tape? I have my vcr and dvd hooked up to a home theater reciever if that makes any difference. Do I just need the basic video/audio cable and connect the two?
Also, is there any way to copy dvd's now with a computer?
Thanks,
Steve |

I guess you'd just need to interupt the signal from the DVD player to TV with your VCR
DVD====VCR=====TV
Could you use a SCART cable to do it? That'd carry both audio & video then. Would make it a lot simpler wouldn't it? I dunno, that's my guess anyway. |

heres some tutorials that helped me out:
http://www.digital-digest.com/nickyguides/ (look at the "Convert DVDs with Flask Mpeg" links on the page)
BTW, i dunno about copying a VHS directly from DVD... because of the macrovision protection on a dvd, it is specially made to fck up consumers when trying to make tape copies (i've heard it makes artifacts in the video). try it anyways i guess |

| you can't do it unless you get put a chip in (just like with a playstation). i got a chip put in so it can play dvd's from all region's and can copy from dvd to vcr |

| It depends what model it is though. A lot of players don't need to be chipped, they can be coded with the remote unlock them. |

Macrovision protection makes somes s to the quality of the image on the tape ... You'll have changes in color or luminosity ... I don't remember well ... I know there are a few stuff to avoid these problemes (eg special material to put between the dvd player and the tape recorder ... but dunno where to buy them)
