Mix Cd suggestions

I'm looking for a couple new mix cds that I can order off cdnow.com. I'm pretty sure I'm getting markus schulz's coldhardbour sessions. But I would also like a nice smooth melodic trance mix along the likes of magik6 or global trancemissions 1 and 2.
How is armins asot 2004? I'm sure most will say cheesy or something. But is it atleast done well?
Lastly, I'm trying to get into house more, so any mixes (can be older) along the likes of probspot, and funky/uplifting house tunes would be great. thanks.

Coldharbour Sessions is solid and so is ASOT 2004. My only qualm with them is that they are hard to tell apart, they sound so alike. So you may want to get one or the other, unless you have the scratch.

I'm not too sure about them being so similar. I have to admit that I've only heard a few songs off of Coldharbour Sessions (like Taxi - Glistening), but from what I know the CDs (and Schulz's style in general) are rather progressive. I personally own ASOT 2004, and while the second CD is somewhat progressive, the first CD is much more melodic and uptempo. Furthermore, unless you listen to ASOT online a ton, I'd suggest getting not only Coldharbour Sessions but ASOT 2004 as well because Armin's CDs are mixed so perfectly and contain a lot of fairly new stuff (once again, the statement is true unless you listen to a lot of ASOT).

James Holden - Balance 005
makes a good mix between house and some melodic trance. You won't regret getting this one ;)

Ok...Ok...Ok what the is melodic. Every track has a melody.

Not if it's a track which simply has a beats and maybe a few synths here and there. Hardly melodic. Melodic trance is more focused on presenting a melody than other subcategories of it.

Well, one of our learned members of the forum just invented a new genre of trance apparently. I'd like to see some of this un-melodic trance you speak of.

Thanks all. Ya, like someone mentioned I assumed markus's cd would be really progresive and armins more faster and upligting, and no I've never even listened to any of the asot radio shows. However I have heard all the songs on disc one, but only naked angel from disc 2.
And I'd definately consider the james holden mix. I have it downloaded, but might as well buy it.

And as far as I know, some trance is not purely driven by a main melody. And even if it does still have a melody, some of it is still much more melodic and flowing in that sense.

Yea because I'm a new member that makes me unexperienced. Ok Mr. Ignorant. Apparently doesn't know what melody is either :P Makes you wonder how much you really know about music

I don't know much, but I do know there is no such genre as melodic trance. :p :p ;P :p :D
