well, I am guessing you might get some mroe help if you divulge a little more info on what you want the site to be like.

but if you want a flash site, I am guessing that learning Flash MX would be a good thing. you can buy it from their site and find a ton of ebooks on it.

hehehe ok ok...well i don't want anything serious. its basically gonna be a stupid little site that i can upload my lame attempts at music to.

i want it to have a flash intro and semi flash interface (not too crazy)

able to have mp3 samples on it

i guess i don't really see anything else at the moment that would be anything special outside of HTML capabilities...

perhaps i answered my own guestion?

Designing websites is hard.

I taught myself HTML, and learning it on your own is usually impractical. It wasn't until I took a class that involved Dreamweaver that I gained some real skills (and I'm still not good at it).

well...what would you guys say a website like armin's or tiesto's is constructed around? i know that's way more than a summer's worth and probably takes teams of people to create, but what all is incorporated in a site like that?
DJ FC
Those are some nice flash sites.
To create something like that you would more than likely need to take a few classes, or have a friend who is willing you to teach you, but it's not easy to learn.

well i think i definitely plan on taking some classes at some point because i really want to do it myself because i'm picky about things hehehe. so are those mostly things that can be done with HMTL and flash or do i need to think about java and other languages too?

this summer i really just plan on laying a foundation to build upon, but i'd like to know what i'm getting into...

I think if you learn Dreamweaver and Flash MX, you shouldnt really need to know any programming language.

Basic knowledge of HTML is helpful, but why code when you can get a program to code for you?

learn myQsl (or something like that.....when you do pm me...i got a job for you :D)

well I think what you should search for is how to create flash buttons and simple flash animations. that will suit you fine.

just have a simple structure at first cause you are not conveying a lotta information.

so get dreamweaver, it makes html simple, and it implements flash real easily. Then do a lotta reading on flash. I know a few kids that have taught themselves flash, but it takes time and practice. It is usually easier to just take a class so you can get specific correct quick answers.
