Well I just updated my mediaplayer to version 9 i think, anyway. All my winamp files turned to mediaplayer.
so i thought i'd check some tunes out in the mediaplayer see how they sound, i expected some difference, but not huge ones..
like i can't hear the bass anymore in the mediaplayer, while the rest sounds nice, at my friends house i checked my tune with his mediaplayer, i heard the base and kick overpowered there..
though i remember when i made pointblank it sounded fine on my winamp+ minor eq settings.
so now it seems different software is different sound/mix? if that is so, how do you achive a good mix then?
ya monitors and such probably, i don't have those just regular (decent ones) boxes and sounblasterlive with s subwoofer, i do everything with feeling and ears.Useually i get comments nice masterd tune, i never master stuff(if you talk about soundforge, t-racks etc..) i just mix/eq/pann stuff in reason, and am very obsessed with that part, because i always want everything sounding perfect and balanced, if something ain't good in the mix and i can't seem to fix it i usually never finish the production lol.
so my question would be, what’s the best software to check your tunes and other peoples ones with? and is it possible to make your tune sound quite balanced on most systems/software? without high-tech expensive gear?

Winamp and MediaPlayer are made for endusers, thus have built in FX and EQ's to make up for the poor sound quality of average enduser systems. Make sure to deactivate all of those to hear what you're actually mixing.
When you think that your mix is good try different EQ and FX settings to simulate playing on another system. |
