Swing to Harmony vs. Nothing

A while ago i was listening to track called: Nikola Gala - Swing to Harmony. I had to say it began very nice: Nice drumline, nice bassline, and of course: nice vocals.
But then, (@ 3:11 in my radio rip) the melody came in. Well i must say i was really dissapointed. The track decreased in value immediately for me. The melody is almost exactly the same as in James Holden - Nothing. Only at the end of the "pattern" the melody goes somewhere else. I mean, just come up with an original melody and be a bit more creative.
samples:
Swing to Harmony
Nothing
Well what i wanted to say is: In contrast to many people on this board i think this tune isn't as huge as is being claimed. The tracks sounds fine, but the fact that the melody is almost copied from Nothing makes me very dissapointed.
what is your opinion about this?
sorry for the bad english |

Sure, it's similar, but I don't think there's all that significant an overlap.
There are many closer duplicates in the world of uplifting trance to worry about. |

Wow I never thought about this...
its still a great track nevertheless
I don't get the people who always say I don't get the hype - its so ing stupid cuz everyone got his own opinion and there's a reason why they like this track...in my point of view the vocals are good and the melody just like in nothing is awesome |

I believe that the comparison between Swing to Harmony and Nothing is unfounded. There is no doubt that the bells or whatever that come in around 3:11 are similar to Nothing's; however, the bells in Swing to Harmony are in no way the actual melody of the track. The real melody (one of the reasons many see this tune as the next big thing) is the ridiculously simple but catchy one that comes in around 1:30. I do agree with you in not being overly fond of the bells, but I see them as an unnecessary accessory to an already great melody.
It is in my opinion that we are much better off trying to find out the lyrics instead of straining for a reason to bash it. |

it's the same chord progession only instead of starting with d-flat it starts on a-flat.
james is obviously cool with this, as he has been playing the song in his sets.
i think it's a magic dancefloor moment myself.

I agree with you that the melody isn't the main melody. An unnecessary accessory is the correct expression, but it doesn't change anything about the song + it doesnt change anything about my opinion.
I wouldn't call this straining for a reason to bash, I was curious how many people actually heard it, and what their opinions are. |

| The lyrics are great, but I'd like to know what they are :) |

| Either way, Nothing is still the better of the two songs. :D |
