Could a Ta-Mtl and Ta-To dj competition be possible ?

I helped the Ta-Fr forum to manage a dj contest, and everything's worked fine.
I'm wondering if it could be possible to organize a dj competition regrouping Montreal and Toronto djs. I know that you aren't all mixing trance.. but unless a lot more techno djs than trance djs are excited by this project, I think the competition would be trance.
Based on the size of active users of this forum, I think that we could easily have ~10 trance djs (5 MTL and 5 TO) and ~5+ judges.
Djs would have to mix a set according to some rules and give it to the judges within a period a time.
Then judges would have a period of time to listen to the mixes and rate them. It would be impossible for them to know which set they are rating because the mixes would have been renamed (and ID3 erased..) by a neutral guy (out of competition), in this case: me.
Both djs and judges need to respect the schedule we'll set and take the responsabilities of their engagement. Don't ask for a dj/judge slot if there's a chance that you give up during the competition.
And obviously, this contest would be a friendly one ! (it's not MTL VS. TO. It's MTL & TO)
What do you think ? |

if it's a competition, it's Mtl vs. TO.
If you were to coordinate this, you could accomodate the various genres by matching off DJs who spin the same style of music.
However I don't think the contest would work unless it was live and you had a venue. |

hmm I wasnt talking about a live contest but about a contest.. like.. over internet? like the one that some TAs organise each 6 months or so
djs record a mix, upload them, judges rate them, etc..
but a live contest Mtl vs To would be great ! I can't organise that myself, except maybe some parts like finding a place and audio equipment and still.. I'm pretty sure some other Ta-Mtl would be better than me at this.

| I think its a great idea, but are there 5 trance DJs from Montreal on TA? I cant think of any that post regularly. I guess Ottawa DJs dont really qualify, therefore I would volunteer myself to judge since Im neither from TO or MTL and could be considered a neutral party. |

| Shaun even though we don't live in montreal doesn't mean we aren't MTL TA's! I think this would be a very cool idea! |

| How bout an even better idea! 5 trance djs are nominated from each Canadian forum! And we have a national trance dj competition! |

| there are a ton of TOTA DJs...no worries on that end. I can count about 15 of us off the top of my head. |

meh, i dont think i would be able to choose which side to be on. Toronto has a better appreciation for trance music, but Montreal is closer. Therefore the only logical thing to do is judge.
Or maybe Ill join the TOTA side and beat you like i did at the Surface DJ Competition :disbelief ;) |
