Okay I don't get it...what's with this latest trend to bring good events to Toronto on a thursday...Tiesto - Thursday, PVD - Thursday, Misja Helsloot - Thursday.
I'd understand if these events were all ages or something and kids that are off school could go, but HELLO most of us are working to save our university lives!!! It would be cool if it was one day so I could take the friday off maybe, but lately all these events are on thursday and I'M NOT HAPPY! :whip:
Just my 2 cents on a boring thursday morning at work :happy2: |

I'm not super familiar with bookings, but isn't it cheaper to book a DJ on a Thursday compared to a Friday or Saturday? I thought I heard this when there was a discussion about why Bal en Blanc in Montreal was on a Sunday night... :conf:
And anyway, it's so worth it to go out on these nights - you get an awesome crowd, filled with people who want to be there for the music and not because it's their regular Saturday night out and oh, look at that, it's the time to get cracked out crowd  I saw Tiesto @ the Docks last year on a Wednesday night and Sasha @ Revival on a Tuesday night and they were some of my best parties ever. Just my opinion though ;) |

a. Let's hope it's cheaper than Montreal
b. Yes, at the very least the people who use will be doing it to enhance the experience, instead of filling out another Saturday night.;) |

| That Tiesto party at the Docks on a Wednesday turned out to be one of the top 4 events I have ever experienced... |

| No doubt...you are all correct...BUT! It makes no sense from a promoter's point of view...he would make more money by getting more people (of course like you said worse party though)...and still you're missing my point...about the fact that a lot of us that DO love the music can't make it sometimes. And like i said i don't mind it being one time thing like with Tiesto last year when i took the day off...but lately there are a lot of events and it's a bit tough. |

It makes sense from the promoter's view. The lower number of people on the Thursday does not offset the savings by booking on that night instead of on Friday/Saturday.
Why so bitter? Aren't you always saying that we should be greatful in this city for the talent that comes through? Now your whining because there's too much to fit on just the weekends now? |

I dont understand why it being on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday night would mean that you cant go. I cant count the number of times that ive gone out and partied on a weeknight AND gotten completely trashed and then been up @ 6am ready to start getting ready for work. Yea the next day is going to be rough BUT ummmmm WHO CARES?! Thats the price you pay for going out and having an amazing time. You can catch up on your sleep the night after or on the weekend. Some of you are such babies, definately not professional partiers IMO.
lol...
ps. I wish they had more weeknight parties like they used to. |

I'm not bitter...Like I said "Just my 2 cents on a boring thursday morning at work". I just want the parties to be on the weekends so I don't have to come to work with no sleep or be fired for taking too many days off...I don't even think i can take any since I'm here only for 4 months...
I'll definitely be at PVD and Tiesto no matter what, but I'm sure i'm not the only person here who would rather not have to worry about work while i'm partying :( |

As pointed out by other people, the best parties never occur on Friday or Saturday, but they always occur on the other nights of the week. If someone is willing to sacrifice themselves the next day to have some fun the night before, then you can guarantee they are at the party for all the positive reasons and none of the negative ones (and this makes for an awesome vibe).
To understand why all these headliners spin on off nights when in Toronto, you need to look at where the dj's are spinning on the other nights. More likely than not, they are going to be in one of the following places: Miami, New York, San Francisco, LA. The promoters in these cities have more power and money than TO promoters so they can manage to book the dj for the Friday or Saturday. Its just politics and TO lacks some good politicians when it comes to booking the top talent.
