Does what you produce match what you listen too?

I currently find myself producing two genres - really hard dark UK hard trance and more progressive Airwave style trance. However my ambition is to get a track played on an episode of ASOT - which kinda points me in the direction of my prog trance, but its a genre I never really saw myself producing. I love to DJ UK hard house and big trance anthems, but I tire easily of the more proggy stuff when simply listening...
Also do you find yourself producing merely for your own / other producers benefits or do you produce with the dance floor in mind?
I find there is so much stuff to know - take bass lines for example, its a mine field - that a bedroom producer has such a daunting task ahead of them when compared to an established full time producer. I find myself full of ideas on how to make a dance floor shake its ass, but maybe I spend too much time worrying about my music instead of more time promoting it? |

I guess I don't produce what I listen to...
I have my own little classification that I think suits me more...
Progressive-melodic with a slightly dark touch to it...
I tend to listen to Tiesto/Ferry/AvB/Steve Lawler stuff...
My suggestion... Do what you like... You will do a better job at it and you will definately enjoy it more... |

As long as you like what you produce, why not. |
