Bonzai Night Review

Firstly, Mike/Push = Bellend. Not only did he cancel a gig in promise (north england) with no reason, he cancelled a gig in cyprus this week with no reason, and he cancelled gods last night with no reason. he cancelled a label organised event which hes a part off. ontop of the fast his gkgg2003 "live" act was a sham, conclusion = bellend.

Airwaves set was flawless mixed, tho imo lacked tunes with any real interest. Just bland darkish proggie trancey effort. Also didnt play a single vinyl.

The Green Martian Live act was an embarrisment, even worse than Push's live act GKGG2003. Mikey Mike told me that Green Martian only consisted off one member, Airwave, but there were 2 extra's on stage, which i wouldnt have minded if one wasnt such a jerk. One had a drum which wasnt even linked into the sound system, and we were all meant to believe he was making the drumming sounds thro the speakers. He did have a microphone which was hanging in front of him, but after he headbutted it and hit it with the drum while he was hurling it around his head like a moron, and it didnt make a sound. this kinda proved it wasnt even turned on. The other extra was just poking nobs and pushing buttons. L-Vee was doing some voice overs when he remembered they came in in the track, ie - a voice would come in, then he'd think , and pick up the mic and mine abit.

I noticed one major breakdown in a track, one was being a twat on the drums, one was taking his mask off (green alien martian thing), and airwave was waving to the crowd, awsome.

I think the icing on the cake was all the sound stopped, all three members looked at the booth asif to say "wtf", then, when none of their hands were on any equipment, all the sound came back, exactly how it was before, then they all paniced and bashed everything in front of them.

Yves was pretty mint, not the biggest fan of hardtrance these days but he played some banging quality tunes, shame we had to wade thro so mucn junk before he came on.

so to recap, a guy ran aroudn with a drum on his head, while laurent waved and jumped up and down like a loon while ed on cocaine and the other guy wore a green alien mask and bashed a keyboard.

sounded amazing.

they all wore the alien mask to begin with, they one by one took it off. the drummer hurled the drum around his lead like some 1990's hardcore rock band lunatic style. all in all it was a scam, and ashamed of it, and it wasnt even my gig.

Aye the Green Martian Live PA was an absolute joke. It was about as live as a re-run of the Simpsons on BBC2 I weren't to impressed but wasn't overly bothered because we got to hear Harmonic Minor (my fav Green Martian track), Industry, Wizadry and Ladies & Gentleman.

L-Vee was amazing imo. I wasn't expecting much because his 2 ASOT set's bored the out of me. But this wasn't the case last nite. Really suprised me with some tight mixing and a lot of tunage imo. What also suprised me was how much of a gimp he looked whilst jumping round and having a bit of a 'boogie' :haha: I thought he would be really boring and stand there looking evil like he does in photos, but he was cutting some serious shapes behind those decks :stongue: Fair play to him.

The best news though was when I heard MIKE had cancelled, and we were gonna get O Bir going back to back with L-Vee for a bit. I think MIKE is an appauling DJ, and was gonna go hang out in Polysexual whilst he was on, but thankfully he cancelled so I didnt have to do that.

Yves was probably the set of the night for me. Apart from a few clashes in a couple of mixes you could tell he really knew what he was doing, and has been for years. Quality hard trance and tech-trance. I'd def like to see him again..

Tidy Boys :D :D :D

All in all a good night :)

i knew YDR would rock it. been a fan of his for a while since i saw him a couple of years ago. always the highlight of the night when he plays the arches

as for the live thing that sounds ridiculous...but trance live usually is.

have to agree with mikey YDR stole the night, never seen him before... not really wanted to but have always been interested to hear, and i was impressed and would maybe travel to see him again somewhere.

i entered gods when airwave were on, quite a dull boring set really, dark proggy wobbly b-line stuff, but a good way to start the night i guess.
never seen o'bir before... wasnt exactly left gasping by the start of his set, but id say the last half of his set was would began to mould the night, played jon :)

as for the live PA ... i wasnt really looking at what they were doing, but they just didnt look like a live PA everytime i turned around, they reminded me of sum hard house nobbers prancing around with their masks on wheeling a hoover around the place [so to speak]
industry was a pleasure to hear cos i think thats my fave l.vee track.

the polysexual was ing rocking everytime i walked in there, had a good 15-20 mins in there to laugh at mikeys dancing :p

all in all was a good night tho, a little dead to begin with but ppl seemed to be coming out of the walls for YDR. i took my friend nik with me last night and it was his first 'big' night out, and he ing loved it... the first of many i beleive, if his g/f will let him, i think we're even going to sasha next week :)

That was a class nite, Yves Deruyter was by far the DJ of the nite with his strange collection of beats. Airwave seemed to plays some really good choons at the beginnging of his set and then went all armin-like towards the end  But he recovered when he went back to back with O'birrrrr. Green Martian were banging and the guy on the bongos was crazy, but unfortunately they were about as live your average highland rock formation :whip:

I heard a couple of amazing choons, but have no idea wot they were. 2 most random things were Airwave offering everyone peanut M&M's and the Sunny D promoter guy delving into the DJ booth fridge and giving away free beer to us :D All in all a quality trip out for the family and it was cool to meetup with you lot again and jay who i have not seen in like 2 years! :)

I do believe there is great looking video of last nite kicking about also ;)
