| I think I will go look for a new mattress tonite, since my birthday is next week...it would be a decent gift to get. The one I have probably needs to be shot to heck....maybe that might help. |

are you stressed over anything? that's almost always the cause when I cannot sleep, i cannot stop thinking about the problems so never relax. if you can spend time working on it early inthe day and put thse things to rest before bed time tis good.
make sure your room is dark and quiet, and not too warm so it's comfortable in bed. excercising in the later evening can be bad, your body doesn't settle down enough to sleep well in only a couple of hours.
If you take care of those things, then I start working on sleep inducing things. Start with warm milk and honey, if that's not working try a herbal supplement like valerian, and finally sleeping pills. I try to always keep some stillnox around, my doctor lets me get it for business trips when jetlag can totally screw sleeping patterns, but you still need to operate on local time. some doctors don't like to prescribe them cos they get abused, so justify asking for them |

Do you have trouble sleeping at all times of day, or does are you able to get to sleep consistently, but only late at night?
Sleep Onset Insomnia, or Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, is physiologically different than many other forms of insomnia and requires different treatment. If you are able to get a full night's rest, but just at the wrong time of day, this may be the problem you are having.

If you still can't get a good night's sleep at any time of the day, you probably have a more traditional form of insomnia. This can be caused by a plethora of factors. You might be able to find some useful information here:

Good luck,

if you have a gf rail the flying f*** out of her then have her sleep in your bed and she'll be like "don't you wanna cuddle"
your only escape will be sleep and your brain will realize this and before you know it you're out - majical male brain. always worked for me. |

OK here's something that almost always puts me to sleep.
Lay down in front of a heater, nice and comfy, and turn on the TV or read, do something passive anyway, and you might just get lucky and fall asleep.
For some reason the heater always leads to ZZZZZZZZZ for me. |

i used to have insomnia too. I started to
1) Turn off my computer at night so it wasnt humming in my ear.
2) Get into a routine. Dont lay in your bed unless youll be sleeping. The heavy "im in bed i am sleeping" association helps
3) Tylenol PM mmmmmhhmmm!!! yes!
4) push myself to the point of exhaustion during the day
5) If its like 9 pm and you get a brief wave of tiredness, GO TO BED. dont say "Im tough, i go to bed at midnight" youll pass your threshold and be up all night.
thats mainly it. You can also drink yourself to sleep so you pass out around your bed time. Youll get ty sleep, but at least youll be unconscious hehe.
Basically routine and oh man, i totally forgot
DONT EAT ANYTHING AFTER DINNER!!!! |

experiment with bteathing differently than normal breathing.
-make the exhales longer than the inhales
-above breathing can be varied by humming monotone on the exhale
-inhale slowly, hold your breath as long as can, exhale slowly, dont breath as long as you can, repeat, repeat, repeat.
-make inhale and exhale exactly equally long, making humming sound with open mouth on exhale. this will sound similar to a baby crying.
-count each inhale and exhale as one, count to 10, count backwards to 1, count up to ten, count down to 1, over and over and over again. focus gently on the breathing, let it happen by itself, once you realize your mind is on something else, just return focus to breath.
-if nothing else works, try gibberish for as long as you need to. speak any language that you dont know, make any sound that is not understandable, make any faces you feel like. basically go consciously crazy. this works. if there are a lot on your mind this is a way of emptying it out. the mind doesnt need to specify the "emptying out",and a lot of it is not in words anyway. it relaxes the mind immensly.
experiment. good luck. |

I have a friend who is crazy insomniac. He has some other issues as well. This is the same person who fasted for 40 days because of stuff.
anyways. The only way he used to be able to sleep was to imagine the most calm and peaceful thing he could.
he came up with being in a lucite (clear stone) sarcophagus that was orbiting earth. He would imagine just floating there in space being able to see everything.
He then started producing electronic music (available at, you guessed it, www.lucite.org) to try to replicate that feeling via music. He now has multiple albums, but his first has more chill in it. |

i suggest that you...
Embrace the goddess energy within yourself
this Will bring you to a new understanding and valueing of life
A vision that inspires you to live and love on planet earth
Like a priceless jewel buried in dark layers of soil and stone
Earth radiates her brilliant beauty into the caverns of space and time
Perhaps you are aware of those who watch over your home
And experience of this place to visit and play with reality
You are becoming aware of yourself as a gamemaster
Further, i suggest that you...
Imagine earth restored to her real beauty
Stately trees seem to brush the deep blue sky
Clouds billow to form majestic peaks
The songs of birds fill the air, create a symphony upon symphony
The goddess is calling for an honouring of what she allows to be created
Through the core mystery of the blood
Those who own the planet are learning - about love
i know, i am deep. i dont know where i get my wisdom from, it just comes to me... :) |
