[Ambient into Breakbeat into Prog] iLLicit's Tricking Me Remix

Hey fellas,

I was wondering if you could help me a bit with this one. Been working on a remix of iLLicit's "Tricking Me" in the weekend, it's ambient with breakbeat and progressive influences, but I got stuck with the percussion and breakbeats. They're quite numerous and i like them but I'm ing with the levels, and then they're too loud and then too soft :nervous:

So I post a sample here so you can judge the track so far overall and tell me, if you like, what you think of the levels. You may also tell me what you think of the breakbeat cause I'm not too experienced with those :)

It's chill and nice to hear already, so have a listen. Thanks for your time.

hmm cant find anything that is wrong.

always check your mixer for the levels..

kick, and bass on top of everything in my books :) rest is beneath it

as for the sample, damn when its finished i sure want :) great relaxing stuff.
Sunquest
this is excellent quality hehe
nothing id change, only thing for me (just a matter of taste) is the melody, not my cup of tea, but for all those REAL ambient lovers, this is excellent!
GrimReaper
I agree what "Massive" said. I like this very much. The atmosphere reminds me somehow of Bladerunner soundtrack. All'n'all the track is soo smooth and relaxing and the breaks you used are very nice and even better if you're not used to deal with breaks before. I really can't find nothing wrong with this. So i'd like to have the finished version too when you get it done.

Ok tnks all.. That's not gonna help me improving them ;) I think their ok then.

@GrimReaper I did use breakbeats before of course, but not this kind and the major part of the song. But I guess it'll work out. tnks! :D

@ Sunquest: Sax melody is mine, rest is from or based on the original. Might still change it tiny bits. It's a stayer for the main part. Tnks for commenting!

Full version will be posted here fully and mucho kbps, so keep your eyes open. :D

Sounds cool to me. Dont like the melody, not my style i guess.
Relaxing stuff :). One comment, you should add a substring to phat things up.
Cheers.

Ahhh, I like it! I can't wait for you to finish it! That vocoder sample fits great as well as the sax. And when the beat kicks in... :D

As for the levels, they sound great to me. Maybe the breakbeat is a bit too loud and the vocoder sample could go louder I guess.

Aye, gracias for the words. Got some nice ideas to finish it off. Hope y'all like.

Hey Jay,

Been listening to this thought it went on for over 10 mins til I realised that I've got my MP3 player on loop :) whoops...

Anyway, very mellow, very nice, the one thing I would say about your percussion is, although pretty good and the levels themselves sound fine, they sound a bit dry overall. It's hard to say what I mean, but I have the same problem, which is why I am saying. It's like I can tell they are from a drum machine or a set of samples as opposed to a loop. Y'know?

I'm going to start exporting all my percussion loops in a track and running them through beatburner or something all at once, or mess around a lot more, cos I really want to know the secret.

If you find the solution to this let me know :).....

Great stuff here, personally do not like that vocoder bit but thats me. kick is a bit overpowering, bass is nice. the pads need to be louder as it sound like there not in tune or a wrong chord being played. i like the idea of the sax going on and the ambient rim clicks along with the rest of the percussion work very well.

jus a bit mastering to do really and that horrid vocoder :p

nice work keep it up mate!

Tnks guys. Vocoder is a def. stayer, sorry tezz :p
